Managed to get one of these from Argos from a deal a few months ago.
If I remember right, it said free upgrade to the latest software version from Apple.
Can anyone tell me how to do this for free?
At the minute, it's version 1.1.5 (4B1)

When I go to Itunes, it says that it costs £5.99

sorry but the free upgrade was already included. the latest version 2.2 will cost you. i think its £5.99 to upgrade to 2.0 then you can goto 2.2 for free

you could update to the latest version that was available when that ipod was first sold, since then the ver 2.0 upgrade came out. you can still upgrade to the latest version for free if you can find the firmware somewhere online as was mentioned inthat thread but if you want to do it through the itunes store you have to pay

updated to version 2.1 the free way. iTunes won't let me update to 2.2 though.
