ipod touch 8 Gb or 32GB, will 8GB be enough?

My son wants an Ipod touch for Xmas. I am inclined to go for the 32GB even though he wont get much else rather than the 8GB as i am worried once he has put music, apps and a few tv programs on it will be full up.
wondered if anyone had an 8GB and felt it was plenty big enough. He likes video type stuff and i know this takes more memory. Wondered what people thought. In an ideal world i would have gone probably for 16GB but understand the 3rd generation dont do this.
Thanks in advance.

I've used 6GB on my 64GB and thats not even bothering looking for my favourite tracks and movies. My brother has 108mb left on his 8GB he has about 1000 songs so I reckon he will need more than 8GB.

Yes i was thinking that but we are going on holiday in new year and i know he would want a few programss on. Do itunes tell you how much memory each tv program etc take up. that way i could work it out a bit better. not too familiar with itunes yet.

If it was just for music 8gb would be fine but when you start with videos then its not quite enough,

Yes i think we may stretch the boat for the 32GB as its more the videos and games rather than the music he wants it for.

Appreciate all you thoughts thanks. Repped you all.

Better to get more just incase, if it does fill up so he doesnt annoy you or he doesnt have to keep deleting etc. makes everything less hassle.

depends on usage for example i have a 80gb classic however my music catalogue is over 100gb at one point it was 125gb but deleted a load, so i can never put all my music on it, but i just select what i want on it, and update it when i want with newer music, or what im listening to at the time.

i have 10 pages of apps...about 400 songs....3 films(stand up dvd's converted)...and over 1000 photo's(mainly taken off mobile phone)...still have over 1gb left. I thought i would need more but i dont.
