You'd be crazy. It would likely last about 10 mins before it was dropped and smashed :)

No you're mad, get her an iPhone.

she wanted to watch video's on it, can you do that on a nano?
she uses my nano fine, and is careful with things, i just don't know whether the touch is a step too far?

my 9 year old has asked for one and i think he's too young !

He has a DS etc which he loves - but regularly loses things eg: sports bottles, anything he takes to school, jumpers at football etc - and i just couldn't see him looking after it, even if i banned it from being taken out of the house.

I might be different to everyone else - and waht a fab parent you are for asking for opinions - but £150 for one present thats easy for a 5 year old to break wouldn't be my choice.

I know how hard it is to say no though.

I personally think she's too young to have an ipod touch at 5 years old. The easier they get what they want the less grateful she will be when she grows older. Just get a go go hamster like every other kid.

My daughter is 18 and it only took her 3 weeks to break an ipod touch ,

If she asked for an AK47, would you get that too?

We are getting our 9yrs girl a nano and a touch for our 15yrs old son seems about the right age as i have learned through the years buying the kids stuff at christmas.
#21
Nano or a shuffle is more than enough. Has she got older relatives/friends that she is copying by wanting one?
#22
buy her a nano if u have to buy her something - u can still watch videos on them!

Getting my son an Ipod Touch for xmas and my GF is getting her daughter one, they are both 15 years old, her son is 8 years. I know what will happen he will moan he has not got one, but we both think he is too young for one of those and will still be quite happy with his DS and PSP.

He only plays games and wont use hardley anything that the touch can doand the PSP games are quite cheap and so are the movies for them has well. Have you though about the PSP?

you can get some good kids movies on the, he has the harry potter ones on there and the simpsons and only cost £5 each

This thread made me lose faith in humanity. Seriously, some people shouldn't be able to breed.
A £150 MP3 player for a kid, that they'll either smash or loose, just get them a fake ipod nano that plays videos from ebay for like £10-15.
#27
how about a mp4 player, there small too and you can get them in girly colours .
they are about £20 and you can watch video's, music ,etc !
I just brought my 8 year old one

LOOOOOOl....... another Rodent thread! :w00t:

Actually , its just dawned on me. The 2 "free" 16GB touch I received in February when I took out iPhone contracts for me and the missus are gonna be given to my 9 and 11 year olds! Feel a bit of a hypocrite now after the AK47 comment!

Annoyingly, i forgot to buy some cases for them! Maybe they can have them, just to look at, until some protection is found!

That's not as bad as age 5 though, I wonder if they let her use the car.

exactly...i havent even bought my brother a iPod Touch for christmas and he is 15 (in January)!
He is a very mature 14 nearly 15 year old, but he wants it for school and things like iPod always go missing, and all it takes is one knock out of the hand and £150 down the drain.

Got him a Sony 16gb mp4 instead, and i bet he will be just as happy...although he didnt ask for a touch, even though he thinks they are cool.

LOL... true.... and to be fair, i do think they'll look after them. (Theyve had their DS's long enough... though they have both had them replaced because of the infamous hinge problem!)

Plus of course the bigger picture... Neither of them cost me a penny!

I asked for opinions, not criticism ! FFS - Some people should have more to do in their lives than post thousands of comments on a website!! Get a real life?? :whistling:

Actually, you specifically asked for advice.

DCX gave his opinion and some advise. You should feel flattered :w00t:

My daugher is not a spoiled brat, i was merely asking for opinions thats all, i understand you might think its daft but to make a comment like "Some people shouldn't be allowed to breed" is just ridiculous!
And yes, she is allowed the car, but only at weekends.
And am considering an AK47 now - cheers for the idea Guv. :santa:

I said some people, not you specifically, don't feel bad, there's loads of people who shouldn't have kids on this site.
