The 2nd generation ipod touch has built in speakers.

"The second generation iPod Touch has an added volume rocker and a built-in speaker, which were previously iPhone-only features. The second generation also comes with the chrome frame seen on the iPhone 3G, making the two almost identical when viewed from the front, with the only differences being no speaker above the screen, no silent/ringer switch and the sleep/wake button on the other side. The second generation also supports audio input when a headphone or earphone with microphone capabilities is plugged into the audio output jack."

(ref: wikipedia, clicky)

if it is the same as the i-phone it should also be on the itunes music track display where you can touchscreen drag the volume up (or rather to the right)

If it's the new model it should have volume up and down buttons on the side just play music without the headphones plugged in and turn. It up. Not the best but it willdo
