Have been to the travelsupermarket site for some car hire quotes, good deals but I am only flying into Shannon touring then home from Belfast inernational a few days later.

Not many of the sites seem keen to let me enter this info and only wants me to drop off in other airports in the south. Called one way and one quoted me an extra charge of £57.

Anyone know much about car hire......is there an easier way round this

You'll struggle as it's two different countries with specific import laws and I doubt you'll find any hire company willing to let you do that

It would be like hiring a car here, then drive to Spain and drop it off - wont happen!

Understandable but

no sea in between

same car hire companies use both airports

hertz and Avis the really expensive ones do it, just the smaller ones won.t seem to let me

and I hear tourism in Ireland has been hit bad......is it any wonder?

Can get it for £157+£60 one way fee but won't let me enter the full info, so cannot proceed.

Or Avis / Hertz price of £320

might just have to try phoning around tomorrow, worth it for that ammount

If you heard that tourism in Switzerland was bad would you blame it on the fact that you can't hire a car in Austria & drop it off in Switzerland?

How on earth did you know....Just got back from Switzerland in Aug.

We paid on buses from Germany to Switzerland and vice versa into France.

Not blaming anything but the whole idea of car hire means some people will want to tour further and want to see more, seems a bit obvious to me.

It can be done but like most things....at a cost

Try actually phoning the smaller companies rather than using the website. Sometimes it is just the way the sites are actually built but when you phone, real people can actually sort it for you!! :)

not guaranteeing anything - but check 'enterprise' - they're here in the north - so they are.

Sorted and booked. Budjet came up trumps for reasonable price. As I said, most of the big companies do it for a huge price. Hope this helps someone else.

Just hoping for good weather next week, both north and south of the border
