shock horror i said the p word... little boys run away now!

ok i started on iron tablets about 2 weeks ago..quite a high dose as was pretty anaemic... my periods were due around the 26th..... dont really use contraception as chart and manage to determine ovulation this way(plus second kid took ages to conceive so can rely on this method)

this month was a bit lazy in taking temps but did guesstimate ovulation...obviously think i misjudged it..maybe? because no periods yet....anyways have done a test yesterday and was a negative.... so am thinking wheteher high iron intake has effected anyones periods? or is there a chance i might have conceived (theres a chance.... whoops!)

i wouldnt mind that much..was going to wait a few more years and wanna shift some weight before as well.....been cramping a lot so think maybe it will start..... im so confused...tell u what my body likes to play games...i bet i post this and then they will appear....!

anyways any gals on iron out there with a similar experience? thanks for reading and if anyone is offended i apologise.

How long ago did you have your baby?

I've had 3 and with my last 2 I had bad stomach cramps and a little bit of blood as Diva said whilst the egg was implanting itself, it could also be too early for a test to say positive.

On the other hand, if you've not long had your baby it could just be your body getting back to normal.

I can remember after I had my first I didnt get my period for 6 weeks after the inital blood loss associated with child birth, I thought omg surely I'm not pregnant again, turned out my body was just playing tricks on me.

Give your health visitor/midwife a wee phone, ask her if iron tablets can affect your period.

No iron wont affect your periods.
You defo didnt ovulate when you think you did then.
Which means ovulation was slightly later or..................baby.
just cos the last one took ages to concieve really means nothing for consequent babies.
How is your temp this morning?

thanks for replies...some funny some helpful!! hehe...

choc old back on the congrats hun....its a no on the tests!! just dont like not knowing whats going on.

i had cramps big time second time round as well but then i get back ache before periods anyhoo....so im thinking maybe iron has made them heavier and more delayed?? guess just gotta wait a few more days otherwise ask doc where they gone with negative test as well!!

hi hon, give it til maybe wednesday and then retest for pregnancy if your period hasn't started by then. Sometimes there isn't enough HCG in the body to show up in the first test. With my fifth son, I took a pregnancy test, it was negative, I was in bundles of tears for 5 days, and then suddenly I just KNEW I was pregnant again and this time the test was positive.

A lack of iron, anaemia, can effect periods by putting them off but if you have been taking iron tablets for two weeks your iron scores should be pretty good by now!

Make sure you are taking folic acid either way.

And good luck. Hope you get what you want x x x

lol, one day your life will include conversations like this!

I remember before my 3rd child was born my mother-in-law asked me if I'd had a show yet.

My husband said.. I really don't think we'll be going to the theatre for a while!

Btw even the 31 shops have pregnancy test kits now and often good branded ones

I had some strange pregnancies and the last two were clomid-assisted so I'm probably not an awfully good marker to go by. But usually pregnancy tests wont show a positive until 17 days after ovulation. Some claim that for blah blah percentage of people they show up a positive result up to four days earlier than an expected period but they dont work for everyone. That's why I say give it an extra 5 days.

My first pregnancy, I didn't test the doc did.
My second pregnancy I got a + in the fifth week after my last period.
My third pregnancy, I got my "period" three days early, but it only lasted 4 days, as heavy as usual but it was 3 days short, so I thought utoh... positive test must have been done day after period was due.
My fourth pregnancy was clomid so I knew exactly what day period was due, started bleeding again 3 days early and tested day period was due. +
My fifth pregnancy tested day period was due. Negative result. Period started. Stopped bleeding on third day. Pregnancy test the next day was +

I know how you feel. Took us 7 years to conceive our fourth child.

You dont realise how truly blessed you are until you read other peoples stories.

I've had 3 kids, 3 reasonably normal pregnancies and 3 decent enough births, no scares during any.

Then you read what other women have been through and you think wow. You couldn't even begin to imagine what having a MC or a SB could be like, then it makes you think what if that had of happened to the ones you have, it really is a very sad and tragic thing.

I know its a terrible time for both parents but for the Mum especially, I mean its you who carries the baby.

But somehow you manage to move on, maybe have another baby or already have babies that keep you going.

My kids mean the world to me, I could not picture what my life was like before I had them and definetly could not picture what it would be like without them(as any mother feels).

Some people just dont know how good they have things which in itself is also tragic.

I'm thankful everyday for my beautiful, clever and very very loving children(as is every good Mum).

I dread the day when my youngest goes off to school and I have no more babies to look after lol, 4-5 more years and I wont know what to do with myself, I'll be sitting outside the school waiting on them all coming out lol.

I realise that I've rambled on and it probably doesnt make any sense but well its late and I've been up since early morning lol.

Nite everyone x

lol, I always tell myself I'm not allowed to cry on their first days at school until they are inside the doors and can't see me.

This has further implications in defining the beginning of iron in the subcontinent as a whole. The excavated sites are Raja Nala-ka-tila (199698), Malhar (1998-99), Dadupur (1999-2001) and Lahuradewa or Lohradewa (2001-2002) (Figure 1) Raja Nala-ka-tila (Lat. 24°41’ 55” N.; Log. 83°19’ E.) is located in the upper reaches of the Karamnasa within its loop like meander in district Sonbhadra. The excavations revealed a sequence which has been divided into four periods (Tewari & Research Srivastava 1997; 1998).

So once, I was really nervous about taking a pregnancy test and I said to my husband.." I'm not gonna do it while you're at work, Im gonna wait till you're home and we can both do it together. I want you to do it with me."

And he said, "How's it gonna show if we're pregnant if I pee on the stick?"

We were told that our second one had spina bifida. When she was born she was entirely healthy. It is really really hard to be worried about them during pregnancy because you can't SEE if they are okay and of course you love them whether they're perfect or not but you want them to have the best life possible and so therefore to be healthy. My thoughts and best wishes go out to your friend. Make sure she has her results second and third opinioned.

really...i will tell her about this as she is pretty down... chances are 1/10 to 1/250 pretty huge range but docs always give big ranges. she will go in every month to be monitored as one kidney is blocked but baby needs antibitics when its born..its just that its accompanied with a cyst on the brain so it might be a marker for abnormalities. must have been worrying that baby had soina bifida...im so worried i havent taken any folic acid in case i am preg!

All our mothers and grandmothers managed without the extra folic acid pills so don't worry too much just start them soon as you can get around to getting some. Lots of foods contain folic acid naturally so chances are you probably have some anyway.

Yes do tell your friend about our experience of the spina bifida result. I know she must be feeling really down. When I was given my result, I spent the whole day shaking and crying and my husband wanted to march me straight back to antenatal and for them to give me another test. Cysts are markers for abnormalities but also many babies in the womb can develop cysts and then lose them again as they develop so tell her not to worry too much yet.

We decided after the spina bifida result that we were not going to have any more tests done and we'd just wait and see how the baby was at birth as we weren't going to interfere in her life span. Your friend has just been given a percentage result? If so it's not a definite case of an abnormality existing its just a statistical probability and even 1 in 10 means that out of ten babies they find with those conditions, 9 of them will be perfectly normal x x
