Hi, Does anyone know where I can get an Ironing timer. Basically its a electric timer with two buttons on it 15min and 45 mins. And what you do is plug your iron to it and it plugs directly to the mains. So to turn the iron ON you have to switch the mains ON and then press 15 or 45.
Once ironing is done, either turn the mains to OFF or leave the mains ON and the timer will turn the IRON OFF in either the 15or 45 min specified. It is quite useful to avoid accidental fires. I have always got this nagging this in my head as to whether I have left the Iron On or not everytime I leave for work!

Can you tell me where I can find it in the UK???

why dont you just check before you leave?

I've never heard of it but why don't you iron your clothes the night before then you'll know you haven't left it on as you'll be there to check it !

I used to work with someone who resorted to bringing the iron to work because she was convinced she'd left it on daily.

I have a Phillips iron which I bought a few years ago and many of them have an autooff timer as a safety feature. Basically it just switches itself off if not touched for 5 mins or so....

It has a blue LED indicator which shows you when it powers down.

for example

I've heard of hundreds of fires caused by leaving the iron on. It's second only to dropping two sticks by mistake and the friction as they rub together during the descent regularly causes large fires.

hmmmm why not just a normal timer? like that one above but in tesco there like £10 or go to your local cheapo store (you know the ones run my mr hjib and his 200+ family) and get one for like 2.99
