No fanboy wars please simply want to know if the ps3 is worth getting for games that are exclusive to the ps3 or am i not missing out on much lol?

If someone could also tell me all the games that are exclusives it would be great. I know if GT5, LBP, Haze, MGS4.

I like it :) Not a fanboi either - I bought it because I found it cheap and my friend has one so we play online together.

LBP is coming soon - can't wait :)

also Warhawk and Resistance

Personally i dont think its worth it at all...I have a 360 and I know its the best Games console, I see the PS3 as more of an all in one Entertainment unit, but nothing but Blu Ray is making it seem worthwile for me to get....I'm waiting for new stuff and price reduction before I get one...until the better games come out and they really push the technology it just aint worth it to me

I'd say wait hun

Other exclusives: Motorstorm (the 2nd is due out soon), Resistance fall of man (2nd due out soon), Uncharted drakes fortune, Kill zone 2 (next year). There are others but i forget.

In my opinion its not worth getting one until they go cheaper, and only if you are desperate to play these games.
One bonus is that it is a blu ray player as well, so if that is important to you then thats an advantage.
However, I think Sony have been idiots with the PS3, as they keep changing the models, they lost the ability to play PS2 games, and they will eventually bring out a smaller and slimmer console.
That is the reason they lost my custom and I went for a 360, which I am very impressed with and the games on offer are excellent. Plus by the time the PS3 is cheap enough, they will be talking about the PS4 which is always a kick in the nuts, although I suppose its good as you can pick up everything cheap.

I love the fact it can act as a media server.. I would've of put £300 into the PS3 but i got it as a bday.. I would wait till it goes down some more..

360 - i hate the fact u have to PAY to play online! thats just stupid imo. such a rip! It kinda invokes people chipping the 360 and play it offline.

Wii.. well.. its a v v good multiplayer imo but not for the hardcoreness of racing/shooting/rpg stylie games i like to play.

Worth it for blu-ray alone.

I absolutely love my PS3, and would recommend it, but it depends what you want it for, really...

If you are wanting it purely for the exclusive games, then not sure I'd recommend it, to be honest. Don't get me wrong, there are some great ones out there (Little Big Planet is AWESOME!), but spending that amount of money for a couple of games isn't really worth it.

If you want it for everything else it does too, then yea, definitely get one! I'm using mine right now to browse the web and type this, as my computer has broke - would be lost without it! I have my photos stored on here from my Florida trip, and videos of my cats taken with the PSEye, lol! I watch blu-rays on it al the time, and have uploaded my favourite CDs to the hard-drive.

Plus, I have had it now for about 18 months with no faults!!!! I had 3 360's in that time, so cant knock the reliability!

Some other exclusives: Singstar; Ratchet and Clank; Buzz, and the ones on the store, like Pain, High Velicity Bowling, Loco Roco, etc.

Oh yea, and the fact that it's free to play online - can't believe I used to pay for that, lol!

I love my PS3 although it was a natural progression from PS1 & PS2. Love the Blue Ray player, i use it all the time. Some of the games are not great but some are amazing and by all accounts the games will be even better soon!
Online network is free and the PS3 has a good online store, ideal for downloading free demos of games before you buy ( this feature has made me buy 4 games and prevented me from buying loads!).

Love the wireless connection that is standard.
Love the fact i can operate my PS3 using my PSP from anywhere in the world! ( slight exageration)
Love the wireless controllers.
Love the facility for saving photos on the harddrive.

I use my PS3 at least 7 hours a week for games and watch a Blue ray at least every week.

I would def advise buying a PS3 but only if you get a good deal to buy it and can justify the usage.

P.S. never owned an XBOX but played it a few times at friends, so cant really compare.

Hope this helps.

This is my opinion.

Had the PS3 for 8 months and the XBOX 360 for about one month so far. I can only say one thing I have used my XBOX 360 a lot more times than my PS3 even that I had it for longer. PS3 Blu ray and Metal Gear Solid for me, XBOX 360 for everything else.
If you got children then the XBOX 360 got better games to play with them. RPG games then the XBOX 360, if you want to watch bluray disney movies then the PS3.

But If you can wait until the PS3 comes down in price a bit more then you probably are better off.

The PS3 is very reliable and quiet though.

The XBOX 360 even with one month I am already in my second XBOX

I think people have hit the nail on the head, the PS3 is worth paying the extra for if you are going to take advantage of its features.

Its a great media player and i did have about 40gb of movies before i upgraded to a 300gb hard drive and had to get rid of a few in order to transfer everything. I have to admit i dont use the blu ray as much as i should but the upscaling is pretty good and as i got the 60gb i can play my old Ps2 games if i want.

Having the rchargable controllers, everything wireless out of the box is cool too as you dont have to spend the extra for charge kits and dongles etc.

Sony's target market is the older person and you can see that with their pricing.
#11
If you already have a 360 and can afford a ps3, then get one.

Dont expect to be playing many good exclusives on it though.

BTW avoid Haze like the plaque!

Not sure if I understand right so a few questions:
- So do you get a charge stand for the controllers in the PS3 box?
- You can play wireless without having to buy an extra item?
- Also why would you operate your PS3 from your PSP, whats the point?

PS3 sounds a bit cooler than I though, plus if you factor in tehse things and online play then I guess the price seems cheaper.

The ps3 comes with one wire to charge one controller at a time.
It also has wireless out of the box.
Some people like to be able to do pointless things.

1)You get a charging cable, which operates via the USB ports on the PS3.

2)Yep, you can play wireless straight from the box - no buying dongles, or anything like that - if you have a wireless internet connection, you're good to go!

3)You can use your PSP to connect to the internet from anywhere with an access point. You can then remotely access your PS3, and play any stored PS1 games fromit / play mp3s from your PS3, view your stored photos, etc. It's pretty good, actually. So, any of the PS1 games you download from the PS Store, can be played on your PS3 or PSP

The controllers have the recharge batteries built in, you just plug in via USB to charge and you can play at the same time.

Wireless is built in so no need for anything else.

With the PSP you can download things onto your ps3 etc and get it to stream recorded tv and stuff (play tv needed) as long as you have a wifi connection where your psp is

edit: too slow

thanks

PS3 is starting to sound better now. I may be going back to Sony when they get a bit cheaper.

I've never even tried that remote PSP thing, I should give it a go. I assume you have to leave your router and PS3 switched on?

Just turn your ps3 to to remote start. Then when you turn it off it doesnt go off fully and can be woken by the PSP

(doesnt work if you turn it off with the switch at the back)

Sorry for being thick, but does that mean a PSP has inbuilt WiFi? :?
#22
There was a time when the lack of good games and a high price made the PS3 only an option those wanting a BD player for HDTV's.

Now with games like LBP and stuff like Drake's Fortune going platinum it's a pretty good buy. 360 is still a better option to those only interested in games, but that gap is closing as the PS3 price drops.

Yea, it has wifi - you still need to have access to the internet, via an access point, or wireless connection, though.

I would say yes and for gaming its probably one of the best times to get one.

I got my 60 gig from Blockbuster a year ago and i love it. Its pretty quiet and i think it look greats. Ok, it had a slow start with regards to games but so did the PS2.

Put a 320 gig hard drive in mine (which is one of the easiest upgrades ive ever done) and its basically my 'media hub' for everything. Music, pictures, films, tv series and surfing. Never had a problem with online gaming either.

The announcement of them removing the backwards compatability for PS2 games really p******d me off first of all (and made me get a 60 gig) but i'll be honest, i've only played one PS2 game on it and that was about 6 months ago for about an hour.

As with the 360, its probably pointless getting one if you only have a normal TV.

Its just a shame that Sony wont reduce the price before xmas. They really should. They are gonna get trounced by Microsoft this year due to the price cut.

Yeah, the problem is microsoft may have jumped the gun with their price cuts, sony know that they are in it for the longhaul and as their bluray drive becomes more well used and some more AAA titles come out they can make the cuts slowly over time. Microsoft have said they wont be making any more price cuts for "a long time"

xbox 360 for gaming

buy the ps3 just for bluray and a few exclusives like mgs4, timecrisis.
#28
thnaks everyone, may hold out a little longer to get one but am definitely considering it.

For now the xbox 360 will have to be enough lol
#29
I like both consoles, im more toward the Ps3 cause all my friends have it - but if I didn't have any I'd chose an xbox because theres more games on there that I like than the Ps3.
#30
LittleBigPlanet looks mental from the creation point of view and is the game that has swung me towards getting a PS3 for xmas. I'll probably still use my 360 mostly as most people I know are on live.
