Is anybody else afraid to post deals.

Hi I've been a member for not very long and love the site in fact I'm addicted and have picked up many bargains and had a few chuckles at some jokes thanks to the other hard working members, but I just wondered if there was anybody else like me who is a bit wary of posting deals.
I have found a few now that I have thought were good deals, I have searched the site and found that nobody else has posted them but then not posted them myself due to fear of cold voting with no explanation and catty comments because that deal does not suit that person.
Just wondered if there was anybody else who felt the same or if its just me being a scardey cat lol.

Feel free to post, rep does not go down cos of cold
you have to build a reputation
remember, fear of failure means you will fail in life
visualise success
share the deals, you will then see whether we like them
#2
You're being a scaredy cat!

C'mon share the deals....I could do with a decent bargain!

Don't worry if you get hot/cold votes, your contributing to the site, which is what is needed. :)

I personally wouldnt be bothered if a deal I had posted got voted cold as very often you get info on where it can be had cheaper or why the item is poor value or maybe just a poor product, even possible alternatives, or it could be the company has poor reputation, I personally wouldnt buy a item I had posted as a hot deal until others have commented on it/voted it hot etc unless I was 110% certain myself!
#4
my first 1 or 2 didn't go down well but I have since had a few 100+ deals
#5
Get posting!!!!!!

Whatever deal you post will always start with cold votes, but if its a proper deal it will soon warm up:thumbsup:

And never be scared to post a hot booze deal.......... cos it will get 9 hot ones from me:)

Don't be afraid. :) If someone votes a deal hot or cold, they are not judging you. I know it may seem personal, but it isn't. Sometimes I post things, which to me are v.hot deals and am amazed when they get voted cold, or get little heat, but I figure it's better to post them, on the off-chance that some people get the use out of them, than not to post and no one gets the use. :)

Just try to search first to make sure they haven't been posted before, and do comparrison searches on the web, to make sure they are not cheaper elsewhere, and you'll be fine. :)

Welcome to HUKD mrspodington. :)

I don't post many deals(other reasons). But, I would suggest you bite the bullet and post them if you think you have found a bargain.

There will always people that vote cold, and give you bad comments for posting a deal that they don't like, but take it as an oppurtunity to learn, and hopefully find something better.

Lately, I have posted some deals which have started off as cold and then gone on to hot, don't be afraid, go on...please!

Hiya mrspodington, no never been afraid and would say: go for it as the 'catty' comments are usually the result of someone making a relevant comment on the OP to which someone other than the OP makes on over-the-top response and the playground erupts:viking: but it's all part of the fun and certainly nothing to get worried about. There's always misc for an instant laugh.
"It's up to you Mrs Podington".:-D

Your rep may not go down, but your voting power does. :)

Wow thanks for you quick responses and support and encouragement, thats exactley what I love about the people on here who can be bothered to get involved and give advice. So I will make tommorrow my first deal day you never know I might just find the bargain of the year lol. Thanks once again you have given me the confidence to become a proper hotdeals member.
#12
do note that people tend to vote for electrical items, gadgets and dvds
items such as books, groceries etc can be hit or miss

#15

#16
I would post any deals I find, whether I think they are amazing or just ok. But the thing is, I never seem to find any. Not before everyone else anyway :(

Yes, if you post too many(Quantum unknown) cold deals, your voting power diminishes.
Most people don't know, so I don't think it stops that many deals being posted.

What it does do, is stops members( the people that know) from posting deals for Specialist/Obscure/minority items, as these are a surefire way of getting a Sub-zero deal.

Hi the mod removed your deal for 1p lightbulbs because it has already been posted twice in 2 days.
You were right though, the search would not reveal the deal because Mr Hunter the poster has spelt it "lighbulb"
Please persist, we don't all bite and we try to help.

I've only posted 2 deals to date, both gone hot within a few hours, get posting you never know till you try.

I don't think there are many deals that aren't voted cold for the 1st half an hour of posting.
They will "Heat up" 9/10 of the time if they are a genuinely good deal.

Your thread isn't yet showing in the "Threads you have started", so I can't comment on why yours is voted cold.

Stick with it.

my deal was removed, well whats the point

Sunrise's thread was removed by the mod. It was the 1p lightbulb at Tesco.
Sunrise was correct in that the post spelt lightbulb as lighbulb.
A good deal nevertheless

I don't think people should leave unkind comments for deals as it is bound to put people off, not everyone is thick skinned. Could a double post not be automaticaly erased before it goes onto the forum?

Well if it was the same deal, it would be removed, spelling correct or not.

Before it goes to the forum? We wouldn't need to erase it?
Or do you mean we expire it, well I would if I had a crystal ball :whistling:
