Is anyone buying their Summer clothes yet? eBay advice please!

Hi peeps.

I want to clear out my 2 kiddies clothes from last Summer to gain some space and some cash!

I have scheduled some items to start on eBay tonight but am now wondering if it is a bit early - especially with the snow today! We have just been on holiday so had to buy all our Summer clothes early, otherwise I don't think I would have bought anything really yet.

What do youse lot say? Don't want to risk selling their lovely clothes for 99p a time!

Thanks!

i'd wait a bit and try selling on here 1st

clothes never really fetch much money on ebay unless they are named clothes ie reebox adidas etc I tried selling daughters next jeans which have not being worn for 75p and got no bids

Thing is with selling on here is that people just seem to rinse you if you ask too much and I don't really know how much to ask.

It is mainly Next items, and a few from Adams and French Connection but really nice things, could just do with some extra cash as I want to take the kiddies out in the holidays.

When should I be aiming to list then?

ive been buying hol stuff-if you wait too long the sales will be on?

there is never a good or bad time to sell on ebay just depends who spots your items or who is serching for that age range etc. I would imagine to try summer wear couple of weeks before schools break up as people will be looking for clothing then. Also try to end your auction at the weekend possibly Sunday afternoon when more people are on the internet.

I beg to differ! I sold a woolworths party dress recently for £16!!! I couldn't believe it as this was more than I paid for it new!!!!! But yes generally it is best to have a name but Next will do. These often sell well especially when sold as co-ordinating outfits

Thats what I was thinking, but he sales don't start again till june/july do they?

Thanks all for your help, I just don't know what to do for the best. As I said could do with the cash now and want the stuff gone but don't want to end up getting silly money for them.

Ebay can be abit hit and miss I have put stuff on there for 99p before and it has ended with no bids I have then relisted and it has sold for alot more than I expected as I said it depends if someone is searching for that sort of item and if you get a couple of people bidding against each other also boosts the bidding

start the bidding higher or put a buy now?

you missed the 5p listing too last thursday...you could wait for the next one?

Considered that but higher starting prices tend to put bidders off for some reason and if I risk 'buy it now' then I may ending up paying more fees and not selling at all.

I have postponed the auctions for now, thanks to youse lots advice - maybe if eBay do a cheap day for 'buy it now' then I will go for it - anyone know of next one?

Completely agree. Things that you don't think will sell fly away. I once sold 4 used ikea ice cube trays for £8!!! probably only cost a pound in the first place. Also had a girls dkny jumper that didn't sell at £2.99! You just never know and that is what I find quite fun.

I always put a buy it now option on my auctions, it costs a bit more but it is surprising how many people will go for that option :)

You cant really expect alot of second clothing unless its designer. For example a prada jacket worth £400 will probably sell for £100.

Agreed.
We gave them away to friends in the end.

I have been looking and buying some bits for summer already for my kids, i think its worth a shot trying to sell them.

i put a snooker cue on once which we were gonna take to the tip..got £27 for it!! lol
#18
if you list upto 99p starting you pay 10p and upto £4.99 is 15p.. so it really isnt a lot more to price from £2.99 or £4.99??

We have pretty much stopped selling clothing on ebay now as I got sick of going the post office to wait 10 minutes to get served then send items that have only sold for 99p just take the decent clothing to the charity shop now

I'm having the same dilemmas. Got lots of summer clothes, some new from vertbaudet, next, etc. Don't know whether to post on here or just go straigh to Ebay.
Think I might try here first - it's free so why not?
Don't leave it too late, summer clothes start getting reduced by end of may!

Just wait lol. Or put them in the attic?
