Is Dinosteveus Running This Forum

maresh1234 Avatar
banned9y, 5m agoPosted 9 years, 5 months ago
Having posted an item, I was horrified to receive pressure from Dinosteveus to post a photo. As the item was in a sealed box and I was only willing to sell to someone who collected the item, this was a stupid, pointless and moronic piece of advice. My concern was the amount of pressure that the above named seemed to be making in order to force me to comply. I sold the item, the buyer was delighted and this was no thanks to the negative and mindless comments by above named. Having now researched the forum, it would appear that Dinosteveus is a one man anti scam in fact anti anything he dont like unit. How is this person allowed to virtually run this forum by bullying other members. He casts doubt on people, he himself says how proud he is that some posters disappear after he asks questions, it is probably because not everyone has his pushy and downright rude attitude, they post in good faith then along comes supercop dinosteveus and casts doubt on their post. They lose confidence and go away thereby losing genuine posters. Can Moderator at least monitor his posts and outrageous behaviour please

Err.. it was Edi (one of the mods) who first asked you to take a photo. Neither Edi nor Dino asked you to open up the box, just to take a photo of the box to prove that you actually had it in your possession.

Forum users would have been right to be wary of someone who just joined the forum less than a month ago and has already posted something for sale. Having read the thread, it is clear that you are the one who has a bad attitude and needs his posts monitored.

having read your for sale thread i cannot see your proble, the user in question, and another both stated they would of been interested in your item if you had posted a pic, i saw no badgering

i dont think its either of the other 2 who are sad,

now start a thread about me :)

From a person with 18 posts to their name. Learn how the site works, read the history of the amount of scams on here and then make comment before making accusations.

Dinosteveus is a well respected & helpful member of the site. He is the first point of call if anyone has a problem and is an expert on the workings of Ebay & Paypal. Dino is straight down the line and totally to the point which, I think, is a good thing. He is clear, concise and you know when he tells you something, he means it and has sources to prove it.
Edi is a moderator... he and the other mods do a fantastic job, and if anyone was acting out of line, he would've come down on them fast. He and dino both are intelligent, well informed members of the site and therefore I think you should watch what you say and spend a bit more time helping others before you go sniping at them. :x

stupid, pointless and moronic piece of advice .... mindless comments by above named.

In my opinion this is flaming and is totally unnecessary. I can't really understand the outrage because you were asked to post a photo? I thought it was the normal when trading online? Anyway I don't really know Dino but from his posts he is straight to the point and he is amazingly helpful. He seems to know alot about online scammers and ebay. If these are areas our moderators are lacking in then why should he not help out??

You'll find other member will intervene on the for sale threads asking for photos of the item..I often do it myself...and you are barking up the wrong track with regards to dino...his expertise as a "professional" ebay seller is invaluable to HUKD and long may it continue...and furthermore he is a Yorkshireman (like many of us)...so lump it or like it..LOL

I have to agree.

Personally I am wary of people with low post counts / just joined since there is always the possibility of course that they have only come on to scam someone.

In most cases, I myself always prefer to see a picture before I decide to buy something from somebody online - okay, so it might have been a sealed item, but it wasn't requested that you take it out of the box, just that a picture be taken (so a shot of the box showing that it's sealed, along with your username on a piece of paper also in the picture - not manually edited in via Paint obviously - would have done for many I suspect), so that it could be confirmed that you really did have it in your possession.

Absolute rubbish. It's things like this that drive specific members away. Grow up
#11
Why would you even start this thread?!?!

You were asked perfectly reasonably to post pics by Edi & then Steve.
YOU were the only one getting p#ssed off & abusive.

IF you had the faintest idea about selling ANY product ANYWHERE you would know that posting a pic is going to greatly enhance your sale & frequently the price you can get.

IF you had the faintest idea about this site you would know that the support you're seeing for Steve is because of the hundreds of people his advice & assistance has helped & in several cases the money & hassle he has saved people from with his knowledge of scams.

IF you read up on the people you talk about long enough, you may just find a handful of members that have had 'run-ins' with Steve & would share your point of view but this thread will only do you more harm than good!

You made your point maresh1234, thanks :)

You are a newbie here selling few items and we have to make sure you are not another scammer trying to con innocent members. Sorry to be blunt, but we have seen many scammers with similar profiles hence the cautious approach. I am very pleased to know that you’re a very nice person and there are happy buyers now - absolutely fantastic !!

This site has a set of rules for Sale & Trade, formulated by ‘experience’ rather than delusion. Members have every right to question your Sale or Trade and if you aren’t happy with anyone, you can report the post to Admin or any MOD rather than resorting to name calling & making degratory remarks about another member.
[mod]#13
Also, as your buyer was so delighted.........remember to get them to leave feedback for you as they haven't done so yet.

As the number of members achieving full rep bars has grown you might want to check out Steve's ranking on the top 100 members, his figures based largely on helpful advice & sharing his knowledge.....

Wow...I've got a mental age of 4...can think of a few members that WON'T be surprised by that!?!?!?

(If you're #30 now, will you just slide DOWN the rankings as you get older Sax?!?)

Just wanted to add my view on this... ahem..

It is perfectly fair and reasonable to ask you to post a picture of the item. It does not matter that you say it was to be collected. People still want proof you have it! Nobody is saying that you are a liar and that you might not have the item etc it is just that unfortunately there are a lot of scammers out there. Please think about what you are saying. This guy was trying to help you by the sounds of it - offering you advice - you would have more interest if you posted a pic - I think you just took it the wrong way and now you have a bee in your bonnet!

Let's have a look shall we:-
The first post from me on your FS post/thread was in reply to your "don't know how", I posted the info from HUKD on how to do it.
My next post was in reply to your "I can't believe that someone has not grabbed this", I explained why.

Moderators do remove my posts if they have deemed them to be 'thread spoiling' or un-necessary. I've had a lot of posts removed. So yes, my posts are 'Moderated'.

'Supercop', I wish.

As for my 'attitude', Yes, I may be blunt in some of my replies, but that is the way I am. I say what I mean and I mean what I say.

Going back to the picture, I have passed on my Mobile Phone number to members who are wanting to sell an item and don't have a Camera. On quite a few occasions they have sent me the pictures by phone and I have posted them. It has helped their sale.

Anyway, if you have quite finished 'dissing' me I'll get back to running HUKD.:giggle:

Did we not have an issue that Dino was going to leave the forum at one stage? I'm not surprised when people lash out like this at such an important and valuable member who is simply ensuring the site is a safe place!

And Steve, make mine a coffee............white with two please. :)
#31
I agree with every comment on the thread apart from maresh1234's!

I think the real risk was that you were a scammer and simply posting a picture helps prove the item is in your possession.

Edit: Black coffee with one sugar please!, ta!

and I thought this was Dino`s site anyway :giggle: , interesting posts as per usual .. lets have some more flaming :w00t:

I don't want this thread to become an appreciation thread for me, everybody who has posted, apart from the OP, is as helpful as me. We are a 'community' and we all help each other one way or another.
I admit, I can be very blunt and that can be taken the wrong way, especially by newbies who don't 'know' me or understand 'how I post'. I will try and 'tone down' some of my posts, I would be grateful if you Guys and Gals could let me know when I'm a bit too blunt in the future.
Right, I'm off to make the Drinks :p:p
