I did A-Level French but I cheated, I moved to France for a year, flew home, sat the exams and went back again. Took some persuasion for the school to agree but I think when they saw the results it's now quite a big thing. I was 50% funded by Leonardo who paid for me to attend a college out there and for my apartment. Spent 6 weeks studying a food and wine course at the Lycée Hôtelier de La Rochelle then went to work.

Made the exams a doddle. Learnt more in the first 6 weeks living there than you could ever learn being taught in the UK. Shame no employers actually give a toss, despite all the spiel on their website about multi-lingual persons being an asset they would rather have Oxbridge 1st candidates.
