Yes it can happen, happen to me even with recorded items. You could try to make a claim if its valuable if you got proof of postage, I think 1st class covers up to £37 or £39 but not for cash or jewellery.

Since April 2009, two items I've bought off here haven't arrived. All the others have, but alas it's the chance you take if you don't want to spend the 75p on recorded delivery.

Well there you go, he said FACT in caps. That's pretty definitive.

But seriously, my friend who's a postie says stuff often goes missing or shows up weeks, if not months late.

I would give it a bit more time and maybe get your friend to check at her local sorting office incase it is sitting there, as sometimes posties dont leave a card if you are out. After 15 working days you can make a claim to be refunded the cost of the item but you need to have proof of posting and proof of what the item cost as well.

Got a t-shirt for the wife from play, it was only £1.99 and that went missing, things from places like that go missing all the time, even when I send stuff to the family it goes missing aswell.

Up until about 3-4 months ago, i have never had anything go missing and never send recorded, since then two things have gone missing to me and three from me (for my sent stuff - all of which i have proof of postage for) Either RM are failing or people are up to no good lol

I have found post is taking longer and going astray more often at the moment.
Like recently I purchased something off here, and it took over 10 days and it finally arrived at the 'if undelivered please return to...' address without the RM bothering to send it to the original address (it was a clear, easy address and easy to put through the door).
Proof of postage is an absolute must these days, though I never used to bother a few years ago.

It varies between periods of year, posties I get and if I send something what post office I use

4 years ago I moved to a flat and the postie used to know my face as I got a lot of Ebay delivery's and if I was out and he put a card through the door and he saw me on street he would stop and give me parcel.

6 months later I moved to a different par tof town(only about 6 minutes walk away!) and literally dozens of things never turned up, I cant say if that was due to the neighbours being junkies or bad posties but I remember going to the sorting office a few times as it was just around corner and despite not having any cards through the door there being anything from 1-15 parcels for me at once!

Last year I sent 4 things over a period of a month from the new main PO in local Wh Smiths and all 4 went missing didnt even leave PO according to tracking.

why would your neighbours being junkies stop the postman delivering your parcels?

Because they could of been stealing my post,if they were illegally subletting their flat, getting large DLA payments and working cash in hand and taking drugs every night and alcohol and constant parties they werent very trustworthy people.

Plus the fact that after they moved out things seemed to not go missing anywhere near as much.

I think that stuff going missing is actually few and far between. I think what is actually happening is so many people alleging stuff has gone missing in order to claim against Royal mail.

i had a parcel being sent to me recorded go missing just recently, its about four weeks since it was sent and still no sigh,.
When i enter the barcode on PO website says parcel can't be tracked until its delivered??, whats the point of that? if it had been delivered i or sender wouldn't need to track it now would we..

I have had 3 packages in 2 weeks not arrive, all sent from different places in the country.
I have written to my local delivery office about it, but they haven't even acknowledged my letter - makes me wonder if that has gone missing too...

Recorded is no use either :(

I have had a lot of things go missing both sent from me and sent to me. I can be from online shops or someone from ebay, makes no difference in my experience. The extra recorded does nothing extra either. It just there as a slight deterrent to stop people making bogus claims.

Indeed a postage certificate that's stamped does the job or a printed stamp = online proof of postage which you can still claim without recorded

Saw a documentary on tv about postie's stealing items.Every birthday card that comes through our letter box has already been ripped open.

Cheques are best for for birthday and Christmas money, cash is just to risky in the post these days.

Thing is none had any money in them anyway. My son was 7 in April and he was looking forward to opening his cards.

Had loads of parcels/packages never arrive - to be received or those I've sent. Quite often items that are supposed to be signed for have been left in front of my door and cards and letters that have been sent recorded were left torn apart with money or items missing.
Never had any success through complaining either. Totally depends on sorting office and postie.

Contact the delivery/sorting office. Google will give you the info required.
