I like helping people with computer problems, interaction is sometimes easier for people with specific problems rather than trying to fit a black and white template to a problem they maybe having.

I just scrolled through misc on my iPhone and the only thread about IT I could see was this pointless one...

Agreed. The problem is that computers are so commonplace that every household has one these days yet they're unlike any other household appliance they have. They require frequent maintenance and a million different things can go wrong. The difference with computers and say a washing machine is that most issues can be fixed on a computer with a little help as they're 90% software related. Got a problem with the washing machine and you either get an engineer or bin it. Getting an IT engineer in isn't anywhere near as common as it should be and perhaps it never will.

Now if I didn't know anything about computers then it's unlikely I'd be a member of an IT specific forum so what are my options to ask for help or google. If I really knew nothing about IT then google searches really aren't the way to go, the results to the layperson are terrifying. So I'd ask on the forum that I am a member of and that usually people help on. So it's no surprise we get lots of questions on here.

that's probably because the iPhone is crap and uses a crap browser, get a Nokia with Opera mini instead and you'll fit more on one screen

I'm a member of so many it's unreal. The email account I set up to register on all the forums gets so much spam and crap from them it's crazy. I'm not really active on most mind, I usually registered to ask something.

sometimes the internet gives you too much it gets very confusing for a non techie like me. I know most HUKDers will try to keep an answer simple. I think they are the best. If anything i would say have another tab just for techie stuff. I do always try the internet first before posting but you get very conflicting ideas probably because i dont really understand it all. Please dont stop the techie talk i would be lost without it. I have posted 2 questions this weekend alone and both answered with good links to the internet that i will hopefully be able to follow.

i have done many things with help from members on here, including sorting my computer out, to chaging a washine machine door seal, to buying and laying underlay at a quarter of the price, so i think hukd is great for help of all kinds, including computer stuff

its hard to find solutions to problems on google. sometimes you dont know wat the problem is called so explaining it on here will mean someone can tell you.

If only there was a seperate thread for these type of things... :whistling:

Oh, c'mon, honestly. Would misc be better of with, 'I broke my nail, it hurts', or 'I'm bored what are you doing now?' At least we're learning something with the I.T threads.

LOL!!!!!!! Lovely thing about this place is that we can ask questions about anything and in most cases get quite instant, informative replies, they may not be correct, hey this is the 'net, but it's good to get replies nonetheless, yes?

YES:thumbsup:
