Is it Legal to take rocks/stones from the Beach

Paddy_o_furniturePaddy_o_furniture

I was down the beach tonight with the nippers after finishing work. To cut a long story short I found a big rock that I wanted for my Beardie (Bearded Dragon). Whilst carrying it back to the car I got some some funny looks. My Missus told me when I got home that it's cos it's illegal to take rocks from beaches. I've asked the google machine but get no relevant results. Anyone know?

"Well ive made a full rockery, several wood bark fires and buckets full of shells" -

That's nothing. I've made a life size replica of the gobi dessert in my back garden from all the sand brought home in our shoes, socks, swimwear, bags and other nooks and crevices which I am unable to specify on a family forum.

I'm more into International Rock Theft..... I've had part of Karnak Temple and some Pharoahs tomb in my back garden for the last 10 years or so :whistling:

Me too, I have a chunk of the Berlin wall, a small bit of a temple in Peru, a bit of a pyramid, and a small chunk of the wailing wall, oh and a couple of bits of a Roman amphitheatre.

I await arrest from interpol :whistling:

Have been collecting 'lucky' stones from my local beach, or 'hag' stones as they are also known...stones with holes in them. Can only do this on a beach that hasn't been owned or updated to the smooth, completely spherical looking stoney beach so popular...and yes necessary in some areas... that are more common these days it seems!! Am still waiting for someone to quote the by-law that says 'no'!!! Because that is what I am searching for! Is it fact or hereditary fiction?
    Knowledge or guilt!!!

Illegal with a penalty of life imprisonment. With no chance of parole. And no sky tv or Playstation.

2 years late but if everyone picked a rock there'd be none left and a tidal wave would flood the town.

I have a collection of holy stones (holey stones!) They ward off witches. I have some strung over my letterbox.

I guess I could take ten stones from my garden as an exchange for ten I pick up on the beach?

Witches? You mean Churails? They are more powerful then jini's.

Well their feet are backwards and they kill/eat humans. I bet you're thinking 'Inbred hill-billies are witches?' lol.

I better lay in bed and try and get some sleep. Got to be up at 7am again.
