After a long relationship, do you think its possible to remain friends and nothing else... when me and my EX split it was pretty bad. We havent spoken sinse and doubt we ever will again lol.

So, whats it been like for you, did you remain friends with an ex? or did you go like me with no contact

I cant say that im friends with any of my xs....however if i see an x out then ill be polite and say hi i wont be rude and ignore them...it can become arkward when you have a new partner and you bump in to an x ....iBut if you trust who your with tehn it shouldnt matter if your friends or not!!

Yeah it can work, me and my ex broke up after being together for about 3 years. We stayed friends, a year later she started seeing one of my best friends. Fast forward a few years and I was best man at their wedding lol so yeah it can work deffinitely.

Damn how did that feel cos your best friend broke an unspoken rule between friends?

I broke up with my ex a few months back after over 3 years together and we still speak but we haven't seen each other since.
I know we can be friends and the attraction was disappearing way before the break up, so I know nothing would ever happen, even if circumstances changed in an extremely unexpected way.
I still speak to her son on a regular basis too because he was practically like my own son.

Sorry to hear that but I hope you've managed to keep a tolerable relationship infront of the kids...whatever you do...don't criticise their dads infront of the kids, as that's quite hurtful. :)

It's always great to hear how ex's can remain in friends, as there can be a bigger reason to your relationship lasting all those years than just a physical relationship, so I don't see why friendship isn't possible providing both parties can get past the bitterness of the break up and or past events.

The bigger question is.......has anything happened at any point during the friendship years though. :giggle:

Definitely, glad you've managed to remain friends, it's always great to hear of stories like that and remain on a platonic level. :)

OMG i would never do that, daughters father is dead and she doesnt really remember him, but still wouldnt say a word out of place about him, sons father i get on with ok just dont like the way he treats his son, but my son will have to make his own decisions on that as he gets older

Sounds like you have the exact same morals as my ex, as she used to say the same about her sons dad but not infront of him. :)

My bro is in the exact same situation as your daughter.
It was quite sad though, as I tried to convince him for several years to seek his father but he decided to in the end because he wanted to invite him to the wedding........only to findout he was burnt to death not long ago.

Time is precious.....so we should never spend time arguing and just enjoy each others company while we can....cos it really would kill me if anything happened to the important people in my life

I actually got a bit teary eyed there.

I have tried to be friendly with all of my ex's ( all 2 of them...lol ) didnt work out unfortunaltely.....I always find argumnets keep getting dragged up from ages ago....might be different if both parties are toally over each other though..

Maybe you should let go of the past and stop arguing with your ex's over your past mistakes. lol

oh my, thats awful, she was only 4 so only has photograph memories, she doesnt really have a real memory of him (if that makes sense) . Time s precious but sadly we forget this till something awful happens to bring it back to light. My best friend lost her daughter coming up 2 years ago and although the pain this has caused it has also shown me the strength that can come from something so devastating (if you understand). Now me feeling all teary eyed

i still talk to them and they wind me up cos they dont understand the meaning of the word over  but apart from that its all good

No Sassie......I completely understood each and every word.
My bro only saw his dad up until the age of 2, so he doesn't have any recollection of him whatsoever and his dad never came looking for him until he was diagnosed to be terminally ill with months to live but he was unfortunately unsuccessful in his search and the fire ensured an abrupt ending.
Even though my brother tries to always make out he never cared about his dad for abandoning him, he always pulls off that very same look when he sees his pics.

As mad as it is, he actually met his sister for the first time after he foundout what happened to his dad and she couldn't believe how much he was like his dad in so many ways, with his manorisms and take on life....even without an ounce of contact.

I was extremely disappointed to hear that she didn't want to have any further contact with my bro, purely because of her dislike to my mum 30 years ago.

I also understand what you're saying about the closeness after a tragedy, as you really do know what a person is really like after tragedy strikes and the people worth there salt will always be there throughout the good and bad times and will be there for you.

I swear I chat like I'm a lot older than 25. :giggle:

I'm always here if you ever need to talk about anything Sass.

jellybaby22
:w00t: its not me cheeky ...its them......

That's what all twisted ex's say when they're bitter. :giggle:

You know I'm playing and know your ex's are crazy.
