Is it worth getting a Pro/Elite?

Having had a CRT TV for ages next Thursday I will be getting Toshiba 32 LCD which goes upto 710p I believe.

So for the first time my 360 will be connected via component, as opposed to composite. However the TV is HD ready so two questions -

Is it worth getting a Pro/Elite for the HD input?

Is the HD signal the same for both the Pro/Elite and does the Elite have any benefits other than the bigger HD?

i think you mean 720p

I would defiantly use a HD input for the TV.
However i've heard that a HDMI connection on a TV that can only go up to 720p is just the same as using component (just one cable, instead of 5).Some people cant tell the differnce between a HDMI connection and component and some can

To my knowledge the elite is just the same as the pro just with the bigger HDD

Yer sorry 720p.

I suppose the major difference will be going from composite on an old ****** CRT (£50 from ebay) to the component connection on the new Toshiba. I have a Pro console local to me second hand so will enquire, as can't see many shops selling the Pro...

I thougt CRT HD was supposed to be far better than LCD picture wise.

I think the best LCD willbeat the best CRT by far

Also buying a second hand xbox 360 is like shooting yourself in the foot, for one it is very unlikley to be a new pro, if you buy a new pro it will have hdmi, elite is not the only one with hdmi anymore.

also with second hand you loose your warrenty, and with xboxs you need that warrenty, also because it is already used for months - years it is very likley to break very soon, since the life of the older 360s never usually bypasses 1 year before it needs fixing, and without your warrenty you wont be able to get it fixed.

I dont see how you cant see many shop selling the pro, like every shop i went in had stacks of every type of 360, I just 2 days ago traded my pro in for an elite and i rang 3 GAME shops and every one of them had stock of pros and elites.

Your Xbox 360 is already capable of HD output using component or VGA. The difference in quality between component and HDMI is very little and doesn't warrant going out and buying a new Xbox 360 with a HDMI port.

The difference between a CRT and LCD HD is very noticeable.....

You won't lose your warranty buying secong hand. If it's under a year old then MS will repair it & they still repair any red light issues for upto 3 years.

It's also worth noting that the pro doesn't come with a hdmi to hdmi lead so you'll need to buy that :)

Thanks for all the replies, very helpful.

Didn't realise an arcade version was out which had HDMI.

Does the HDMI cable come with the Pro?

Perhaps when I'm searching for the Pro I'm getting something wrong - is it advertised as the Pro, or do just the new premiums now have the HDMI port?

HDMI cable comes with the Elite only,

Most places just call the pro the premium
