your ps3 can be on standby, when you use your psp to link to playtv it'll switch your ps3 on and then you can switch it back to standby remotely. you can also watch your recorded programmes too :)
i wouldn't bother buying a psp just so you can watch tv on it although it is quite a cool feature, get one if your planning on playing games on it too.

can you use playtv whilst ps3 is on standby? ie in bed watching tv can ps3 be on standby?
also, i would be using psp for other things too, think i can get oen for about £35 on its own

What is this anyway? I have both a PSP and PS3 but was thinking of purchasing Play TV

I am confused to if people are just saying it works as a remote or you can recieve tv on the PSP

You can access your ps3 through wifi and watch the tv on your psp I did a review of it sometime ago on here http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/261505/my-review-playtv-playstation-3

kind of, you can leave your ps3 on standby but when you link up the psp to the ps3 to watch tv it'll turn your ps3 on remotely then you can switch it back onto standby remotely when you're finished :)
think you'll be hard pushed to get a psp for £35, you could try ebay for a second hand one

i would definatly recommend getting play tv if you haven't got sky plus or a tv recorder, really is worth the money (specially if you've got a psp too :)

I have Sky HD but want to have seperate things and it would allow me to put the HD box downstairs when not in use in bedroom.

huh?!
no it turns the ps3 on while you're watching tv but it's easy enough to put it on standby via your psp
yups you can watch tv normallly as long as you have wifi, a ps3, psp and play tv :)
