IMHO they both very good and pretty much the same but due to blu-ray being on ps3, its worth the change. 60gb is backwards compatible (plays all original ps1/ps2 games) the 40gb doesn't.

I would be ideal if alll games were released on all platforms... ive had to keep my X360 because certain game titles are only released on certain platforms :(

yes u dont have to pay to go online with the ps3 as u do with the 360

Thanks for your reply.
I dont have anyps2 games, and probably not going to do, so would it be worth me getting the 40gb?
Whats the other difference? USB ports?

I like the 360, but seeing all my mates getting a ps3 now, im unsure..

And seeing as HD-DVD has gone, blu-ray is the way forward.

60GB:
Backwards compatability (Can play PS1 and PS2 games).
Has 4 USB Ports.
Ethernet cable included in box.
Memory card slots .
Mirror-Silver faceplate on front.

40GB:
Backwards Compatability (PS1 ONLY).
Has 2 USB Ports.
Ethernet Cable not Included in box.
No memory card reader.
Matt-Silver faceplate on front.

PS3 IS THE SUPERIOR CONSOLE.

Personally I would go for both - I am bouncing between the 360 / PS3 and Wii based on the games, who is round and which friends are online.

I can see me spending more time with PS3 once 'Home' comes along but until then it is a joint 1st place for all 3 ;)

You can't buy a brand new 60GB anywhere these days as they've been discontinued. You can buy a 40GB in almost any shop.. so..

40GB.

I own a 60GB though.

Why have they been discontinued?
:S?

Hasnt home been delayed to the end of this year?

And the obvious space difference I missed out.

If you want a great games console keep your 360. If you want a blu ray player that can also play a few good games then buy a P$3.
#11
Don't think you will able to "swap" it for a PS3. The Xbox is too much of a piece of garbage. You're going to have to add more. The PS3 is sooooooo much more fun. I have both. I think you get more fun on Wii than Xbox.

PS3 all the way.

The latest rumour from China is that Microsoft are planning to adopt Blu-Ray and make a Bluray version of the Xbox 360 - off course i don't think this can work for bray games as there as some 17 million 360 owners out there....but movies yes or maybe yet another drive addon. Who knows BUT consider this

360 Elite with Blu-Ray = Black console, HDMI, Blu-Ray, Hard Drive etc - oh dear! doesnt this sound like a console that's sat in my living room downstairs - a wannabe PS3?

The problem is Microsoft rushed the console to get an advantage in the nex-gen race. And because of their eagerness, they are now stumped with a **** box. To compete, they have to release new revisions, addons etc to make it more PS3 like (in my opinion)

Now take the blu-ray rumour with a pinch of salt for the time being but looks to me as Sony made the true nex-gen console. Although they don't have as many titles as the 360, you have to remember they are 1 year behind. Also there are some killer exclusive titles coming for the PS3 though and not to mention HOME and PLAYTV and all sorts of other entertainment goodness.

Last thing, GTA IV is arguablly better on the Sony console. And this is the start of many more titles to come. Even now, developers haven't fuly cracked the power behind the cell and yet the games are looking equally as good and in some cases better than the 360. Can you imagine what they will look like when the architecture is finally cracked???? - One game that 360 will never be able to compete with Graphically is Metal Gear Solid. Mark my words.

Bottom line, get rid of the sh1tbox and get a PS3.

Lol a games console with only 1 good game being Gears of War. Halo is average. While on the PS3 you get lots of games that are as good as GOW. Some better aswell!

I could name a few. And I don't think GoW is exclusive to the Xbox as its on PC too :)

- Metal Gear Solid 4
- Haze 2
- Resistance 1 & 2
- Final Fantasy XIII

Is there an equivalent on the ps3? With like xbox live points?

Well it was an exclusive.

Those games have worse scores btw so you have to try harder.

Oh wait. There is only 1 exclusive that's better than gears and that's on the Xbox 360. BioShock ftw.
lol

Bioshock is a prime example, fantastic game not available for PS3...... try and have a PS3 & X360 if you can afford it.
banned#21
I would say if you can swap it - DO IT!

The longer you leave it, the more risk you run of these offers not being available.

In time, retailers will clock on to the fact the Sony market is growing and will either stop taking these trades, or may take the trade but expect more from a 360 owner, or offer less money for 360 machines.

I bet you any money the PS3 will last for 8-10 years before the PS4 comes out. And Microsoft will release another console before the PS4 is out - they have to if they want to beat Sony in the console market.

Do it while you can.
#22
PC and PS3 is best bet, even a semi decent GFX card and a semi decent dual core processor will run Gears and bioshock alot better than a 360.

And mass effect PC is out this month :) with updated everything!!!!

Read up, Bioshock may be coming to the PS3 this September and will be better than the 360 version!

You just got pwned.

"12:46 pm EDT @ April 26th, 2008

While left out of the Quartermann roundup posted on 1UP yesterday, the oft-rumored, oft-denied BioShock PlayStation 3 port could arrive this September, reports NeoGAF user "SuperSonic1305" upon scavenging the June issue of EGM. The revived rumor suggests the port will include the extra DLC content and sport upgraded visuals (how about a better ending?). In addition, BioShock 2 reportedly will be "shown" around the same time the port is due. Presumably, the sequel (or prequel?) will be released for Xbox 360 and PC, with a likely version developed for PS3 as well -- why not? And if that is the case, it might make sense to prime the Sony faithful with a port of the original, though BioShock is quickly becoming "last year's game." Two questions: Is a PS3 port too late to the party? But if it is arriving, however late, why keep it a secret?"

Not sure how Sony will do this but HOME will be the best networking/online experience ever when it comes to.

360 has obvious advantages, online being the most popular.

Home looks great but if they leave it much longer they might aswell drop development and forget about it.

That is my whole point about patience right here.

People crying for something that is still Work-In-Progress.

Sony leave it a while before they are sure something is good to roll with a future-proof result. PS3 was their first machine and Home is equally as important.

They need to get it right or close to perfectly right.

Problems will come, but i'd rather wait it out.

So do you think its worth waiting for me to get a ps3?

This is only my personal opinion but nothing on the PS3 has yet come out that screams buy me (Haze and Drakes Fortune maybe). I bought a 360 and used it for oblivion and a few single player games but wasn't really getting into it. On the advice of some friends I got myself Live and it changed everything. The 360's appeal is a console built 'around' the Live system that will follow you to any future MS console. While the PS3 has something similar it all seems a little disjointed and not as smooth. And before people say anything Home doesn't exist yet so doesn't count.

I'll be getting a PS3 eventually as I need a BD player but my 360 will always have a place (until the 720 :) ) under my TV. Currently playing GTA 4 on my 360 and loving it.

As in they had a chance to rush their first nex-gen machine but didnt do it.

And to JizzM, get it while you can now - if someone is mad enought to trade a PS3 for a 360, GET IT

Well i have gta n the 360, and played on my friends ps3 with gta.
I thought the ps3 was slightly better graphics, but as gta is only is 720? (is that right), on his tv, it didnt give gta/ps3 the fuill justice.

The ps3 version of gta is less than 720p. Its rendered in 680 or something like that and then upscaled to whatever resolution the tv is.

I plan on renting GTA IV for the PS3 soon (or buy if I can't get hold of it) and comparing it with the 360 IV.

Then I'll be able to tell for sure without reading fanboy comments online which is superior once and for all.

Its a HD comparison video of both versions side-by-side but i think playing it hands on is the best way to form a true verdict.

Very interesting. Suprised the 360 looked sharper but GTA seems almost identical on both consoles.

For anyone with GTA on the PS3 how is the driving handled? On the 360 the trigger buttons vary the speed, so a half press equals half speed full press full speed ect. Are the shoulder buttons on the PS3 like this with the ability to vary your finger pressure to affect speed?

no matches here :(

go for ps3 if ur friends have it. ive had both, gamewise identical, but having the ps3 feels better than having an xbox360
