Well, there are worse. I thought Orange's customer service weren't bad. The guy who helped me was really friendly and sorted out my issue very easily (which involved him refunding lots of money too). But on the downside, it *can* take a while to get through and also they don't tell you how many inclusive texts you have left, nor how much you're due to pay above your normal line rental either.

My husband has spent 2 weeks trying to get through to them, even been on the phone for just over and hour before he got sick of waiting, I got a new sim and called to register it and was put through within 3 mins, Typical how they have more opperators available for Brand new customers yet fail to support existing ones.:x

e2save and onestopphoneshop use an 0870 number and it takes forever to get thru unless you phone their sales hotline.

You can use www.saynoto0870.com to get 2 0800 Freephone numbers for e2Save. I wanted to cancel my insurance and the whole thing took about 5-10 minutes.

Sales - 0800 0496060, 0800 0496496 & 0192219

When you get through just ask for whichever department you want to be put through to, they re-directed me straight away.

Currys, The Link & O2 are my bad apples at the moment. I have to write letters of complaint to all 3 because none of them would let me speak to a Customer Services Manager, even though O2's Bills on the back say ~ "Write a letter of complaint if you are unsatisfied with the response you receive from a Customer Services Manager".

I always get through to Orange and most other support, but mostly as I know which numbers to call, and when to call.
Tuesday-Friday - 9am-12pm is the best time for most call centres imho.

Yes Orange are bad ..I phoned last week to cancel my contract and had a 15 min wait...also AOL can have you on the line for 10 mins or so before you get contact with someone.

Unfortunately it is now common among companies not interested in retention (O2 were quick to deal with me when I asked for a PAC and turned down initial offers) and apply barely any resources to their "cancellation" departments, I know a Sky employee who has blatantly admited this.

Great advice.

After our recent farce with BT Internet Services, I just kept calling the 0800 sales desk and asked to be put through to BT IS. Each time they told me that I had the wrong number, I said "Look, you're a communications company, just put me through to that department please."

Be polite and persistant and whatever you do don't swear,;-) however much you might be tempted.

Orange customer 'service' is appalling, they have been 'exceptionally busy' for the last few months. Which means they are trying to run the business without the required staff levels...like most companies these days. And we have unemployment in this country?
Anyway, best thing to do nowadays is write the dreaded letter instead. It's probably easier than trying to call. Mark the envelope 'urgent' and if they don't action it urgently then hold them liable for any consequences.
Gripe over... ;-)

I called Orange to end my contract and port my number, the guy at the other end was VERY helpful and made it a quick and painelss process!

He gave a liner asking if I wanted "better offers" with rates and such, I said no and he dropped it, didnt insist and just got my work done!
