Is Sharm e Sheik (Egypt) part of South Sanai?

Just planning my holidays, unfortunately my wife would need a visa for most of our hand picked destinations. However she can visit South Sinai without applying for a visa beforehand.

I have been browsing the web for holidays to Egypt and the Sharm e Sheik hotel seems to be in the South Sinai region. I just wanted to confirm this with someone prior to booking.

Well a trip to London and back will eat up.quite a bit of the holiday budget. How long did it take to get the visa sorted?

I understand this is the wrong forum, but what would be the best deal for 2 couples, wanting to stay around 7 nights around mid October, Birmingham airport preferred but Manchester / London will do too.

you can get you visa at sharm aiport when you land. you have to fill out a form on the plane as everyone does. then when you get into the terminal building at sharm. you can either q up with the rep from thomson FC and tomas cook etc or go to the bank teller take a couple of mins only a stamp etc in passport. easy.

this is taken from TA website
VISAS: - Because Sharm as well as some other tourist resorts such as Taba, Nuweiba & Dahab are on the Sinai Peninsula, a Visa is required in order to:
1) Travel out of Sinai - to Cairo, Luxor, The Ras Mohammed trip by boat, quad (taking in the blue lagoon & BBQ lunch), car or bus.
2) To leave the immediate beach area and go further out to sea. The latter means that if you want to go to some dive sites - you will need a visa.
One can buy a single entry visa on arrival in Sinai or Egypt. It's valid for 30 days.
One can obtain multi-entry visas from the Consulate in London, prior to travel. They are valid for 6m & allow a maximum single stay of 90 days. This is usually done by post (allow 7 days) or in person (allow 2 days)

or hre's the link to whole page all in alphabetical rder

Yeah I'll be fine as a British citizen, but was concerned for my wife. But I was assured that she will be able to purchase a.visa upon arrival as long as she stays in the.south san!i.region.

Thanks for the advise all.

I'm hoping to go to Cairo next spring to visit friends and this has answered a question I was going to ask elsewhere.

If you know what trips you are going on i would get at the airport otherwise i would wait till you get to your hotel as the rep can always sort it out for you.
