Hi all.

My LG Viewty is playing up so is going back - meaning I will get my £100 back.
I quite liked the touchscreen but the slowness of the software used to bug me, whereas I have always found Nokia's to be fast.

So is it worth paying £60 extra for from Play? Or is there another good phone anyone can recommend that is no more than £160? What's this Sony Ericsson C902 or whatever it's called?

I want a decent camera and a large screen (touchscreen not essential) and I like to listen to my music on my phone, but that's all I am really looking for.

Thank you, will leave rep for help

I have the nokia 5800 and I like it. The touchscreen makes it dead easy to use and is good when writing texts or surfing the net. It is also really good for listening to music and I think they usually come with a 8gb memory card as well so you can put loads of songs on it.
HTH :)

I got one, it's actually a really good fone, rich in features. Relatively cheap against it's rivals. Nice large screen, iPlayer works brilliant, great external speaker. Texting is satisfying once you're used to the various input methods, all are good imo.

Does have it's downpoints though. I find the menu system really slow, as is the screen orientation flip. Starts to grate when it takes between 3 and 5 seconds each and every single time you flip the screen, most times by accident needing to be flipped back.

Another annoyance is that when a contact calls me, despite them being a contact only their number shows often causing confusion if you don't recognise the number.

I am sure it shouldn't be doing that :w00t: can anyone else confirm that this isn't normal?

Thanks both of you - really want one

I would have a google then if I were you, definately does it on mine though. ******* annoying.

Also, must be said that it is a rather plasticy fone so don't expect any chrome finishing, does tend to creak a bit after a decent bit if use. My stylus is completely loose in it's slot aswell. A bonus is the plentiful free apps for it, can be turned into a wifi source etc.

Also the music player on it is no frills.

I have the 5800... can't wait to get rid!

As a bog standard phone, ie make and receive calls and text then it's fine (barely), but as a music phone it's rubbish... everytime you add/remove songs from it you need to refresh the playlist which then makes it forget where in the song you were (and if you are in the middle of a 5 hour radio show it is really annoying), the fast forward/rewind are also useless - it either does it too slowly or way too quickly.

Finally, mine does show the persons name, not their number.

My vote - Don't get it.
I can't wait until you can get the iPhone on Orange later this year.

Depends on your own interpretation of what's a good camera, round about 3.2 mb maybe? As a fone cam I find it good enough, though the slow menu problem rears it's head again so it does frustrate the odd time, I've had the flash fall out of sync and sometimes doesn't want to take a picture for you first time.

Must say that the vido recorder is good, there's a high quality widescreen setting that does a beautiful job of capturing videos that look truly brilliant played back.

I had an iphone a couple of years ago or thereabouts, jailbroke it and used with T-mobile. Absolutely loved it, but the jailbreak killed something and it died after a few months...grrrr..... That's why i'm waiting for the official Orange UK version.

I still rather like my 5800. The only annoyances are the accidental flip as mentioned, and the loose stylus.

Phone works a treat though, it does lock up sometimes when I turn it on (before it loads) but after turning off and back on it's fine.

I would recommend it but it depends what you want. I use my ipod for music, my phone for a phone...

I'm still waiting for a replacement for the sony w800i :( especially after the disgrace that was my couple of w910i!

Love my ipod touch so I'll upgrade my fone to an iphone soon as poss, also the internet is soooo much better on an iphone/ipod touch.

Good point, depends on your standards. I'm not a HUGE fone user so it's been ok for me. I can imagine a true tech head hating it though.

Certainly. I don't think it's an amazing multimedia phone, although it does have good speaker volume for listening to music (if that's your thing, or if you're a 12 year old chav cruising down the street :p) but for general use it's fine and decent for surfing the web when you need to.

I personally prefer to sticking to specialised technology for my various needs i.e. a PC for internet, iPod for music etc. But again everyone is different and has different requirements.
