Is the Wii a gaming console or just for fun??

Ok I have a XBOX 360 & a Wii.

I love my 360 and really enjoy games like Bioshock, Forza & Gears of War.

I recently rented Red Steel for the Wii from LoveFilm and was really looking forward to a FPS on a console that you could aim accurately with.

I was so disappointed and have decided to give the Wii one last chance with Resident Evil 4. If this is as bad as RedSteel then the Wii will be kept as a fun console with games that work for it like Big Brain academy etc.

Has anyone else found a game for the Wii that is as playable as Bioshock for example? I know I am setting the bar high using Bioshock here.

Or is the Wii just a fun console as I now see it?

just for fun.
my 10 year old scrimped & saved to buy himself one, played non-stop for 2 weeks now it just sits there(the wii, not my son!)

The likes of true gems like Mario Galaxy will be few and far between so I have to vote for the 'just for fun' option.

its just for fun, small toddlers, girls and mums.

pretending to sweep the floor or pick up a phone is not gaming.

That perfectly sums up the Wii. Couldn't have said it better myself.

No, and I think Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl will prove that it is more than a 'fun' console only aimed at young children.

Metroid prime 3 will offer you a much better fps exp rent it out and have a go.

Interesting question. Do I take it then that the 360 isn't fun? I thought the whole point in console games were they they are actually fun :?

Hmm I thought the Wii was a gaming console and, like all gaming consoles, it's designed for fun?

I have a Wii and didn't particularly like Red Steel or Resident Evil 4 either (so I sold them for what I paid for them) - but I do enjoy other games (which I have kept). I suppose there are other people who love Red Steel + Resident Evil 4 and wouldn't enjoy the games I like - but that's just personal taste

If you have a Wii and don't like the console (or you don't enjoy playing the games currently out) I suggest you sell it while prices are high before Christmas :santa: and buy yourself some more XBox games.

Was having this same conversation with a friend & glad you asked.
I agree with bitseylango opinion that if i were to buy it for the kids they would probably play it for a few weeks and after the funs wore off it would sit in a box & forgotten about. What is the best console PS3,Xbox 360 or Wii ?

Kids have been doing that with toys since the invention of the wheel ie. getting bored with things after a certain period and putting them down. :p

Which 'is best' depends on each individual - have a look around at the consoles / availability / price / games out (or due for release) and just decide - if you're smart and wait for 'deals' on here you can buy the console, games and accessories for such good prices that if you decide to sell you will get your money back or close to it

I went for a Wii and I'm pretty happy with it - I've got 14 games (some I haven't played on) and I've had several others that I tried and sold for a profit (overall). I could sell what I have now and make a profit on what I have spent so far and I've had a lot of fun with it - couldn't really ask for more than that :-D
