Is there a free way of finding out a companies profits / turnover?

Is there a free way of finding a companies profits / turnover?

I've not had a pay rise for the last 2 years because of the 'economic climate' and just want to see if my boss is telling the truth ;-)

Went onto the company house website and paid a few quid to download a few of the documents but cant seem to find how much profit etc my company has made over the last 3 years? By the way its only a Limited company.

Thanks for any help

I'm sure alot more people would like to know this info as well for where they work :-)

    Companies house is the best.
If you want you can PM me the company details I will search companies house and tell you which document you need to purchase to show you the profit details.

Companies house is your best bet - if it's limited that is. Reports are a couple of quid I think.

We're a partnership so nobody can see the squillions we get! :-D :-D :-D

Nope wanting a good way for me to justify leaving (in my own mind) without just telling them to shove it ;-)

Also they can't fire me for finding this out, it should be public knowledge surely? Freedom of information and all that.

They don't have to publish 'everything' but turnover, direct assets, numeration, shareholding is usually published.

You could just ask them......for either a pay rise or their profits?
If neither comes back then 'do one'

I think you can only findout if you purchase the information, which shouldn't be that expensive....surely they're not being so tight on your pay that you can't afford to pay a couple quid to findout if you should tell them to shove it? lol

Actually, saying that.....you'll probably need the couple quid if you decide to tell them to shove it lol

Maybe look for another job in the mean time, which may pay higher

I've already paid a few quid and downloaded some docs from the company house website but it just told me the shares both the directors owned etc and then some other worthless info. Trouble is theres loads of docs to download and i dont want to spend loads downloading worthless rubbish.

So just wondered if there was another website or way to find ou the info i want?

Its not just the pay thats the issue its alot of other things that have been building up over the last few years and now its got to a point where i'm getting real stressed out and depressed.

I only want to find out the info so it makes me feel better when i can say to him i know the truth and its his own fault i'm going and a payrise now isnt going to stop me. 8-)

Agreed, Companies House will have the info you need assuming the company is up to date with its filing.
Turnover may not be shown if the company is classified as small, however profit should be.
Remember accounting profit potentially contains alot of adjustments, so its not cash in the shareholders pockets so to speak. Therefore you need to look at other indicators - cash at bank, debtors, creditors, loans.
If the company is medium or above (one criteria is turnover > £6m they should have a business review where the directors talk about issues during the year etc - although this may not give much away. I assume the company is a Limited company.
Accounts filed at companies house are public documents for anyone to view (for a small cost)
Any more problems let me know and I'll get some data for u

If you want to PM who you work for I can download the relevant information for you - no costs involved as I've got unlimited database access to accounts etc. If it's a small company chances are there won't be many details published so I wouldn't waste your money paying to access them.
