I have virgin at the moment and am thinking that i dont need to pay them for the tele as we dont watch much more than than the free channels however we do use the on demand service. so was wondering if there is a media player that can add the free catch up channels to it.

I have an Xtreamer and Asus O at the moment but am prepared to change them if i can sort the catch up channels.

Might be worth having a look at the Acer Revo or the Asrock Ion PC's, SFF PC's that will do everything you want and play HD content. I have the Asrock as my main media player, its great and plays everything I have thrown at it with ease. Easy enough to set up and you can just use any bog standard webbrowser to add the catch up channels you want.

ok, once you turn it on does it go stright in to remote controlled control? are all videos able to be acsessed by remote?

I would like to get the same set up as my Xtreamer with the ability to also watch all the ondemand shows, it seems you idea may well be the best so far. i would need a really long lead to send it upstairs though.... :) unless you have a ao.lution for that too :)

you can set it to start media center on startup or just press the media centre button and it can go into media centre and everything can be accessed by remote with that add in, tho ive found media centre seems a bit slow on mine donno if its the ram still ok tho. tho ive had to use the mouse to make some 4od stuff go full screen. You can access hulu with it as well which is usa stuff on demand. but youd need a us proxy for that.

A PS3

Has its own iPlayer on the dashboard, and using the internet browser you can get anything on Youtube, which includes all the 4OD and DemandFive. Just looked and it has GMTV, XFactor and Baywatch Season1 on it, so it must do ITV stuff as well.
TVCatchUp works as well iv been told.

Is that the only difference between the pro version & the original? (I have been looking, but can't be sure - asrock site seems more a marketing tool, rather than a spec source.)

i think a couple of revos is the answer at this point. however i will wait until july to make my mind up. hopefully Xtreamer will ad iplayer and 4OD by then...

possibly a revo and a media center extender like the xbox? thats what ive got upstairs, although some on demand stuff wont work on the extender
