I think there was a national strike today.

Does anyone know if this will affect tomorrow?

Am expecting my mobile bill to be sent so I can claim my cash back but am going on holiday for 3 weeks on thursday so I really need it tomorrow.

Varies from place to place, you need to call your local post office(s), look at notices on them and their sorting office(s)

Today wasn't national as I got my post today.

Hoping mine were last week as I never had any letters from Thursday to Monday, just parcels.
#3

Here in Southport, there will be no post tomorrow (Thursday).
#11
Postman just been here and all he delivered was junk mail with no address on!
#12
nothing also was expecting some parcels
#13
What the, 3 days waiting for parcels and all that comes are letters :(
#14
Im actually annoyed.I've taken 4 days off work so i can be here to sign for the TV and it hasn't arrived
#15
annoyingly i have been sent a cheque for £5k in the post which STILL hasnt arrived yet ( it is from a family member so i know she has sent it). im also waiting on some purchases from 2 weeks ago. what makes it worse is the place i ordered from could have been on strike, then when they go back to work, the main sorting office where the post would go to coould have been on strike and so on at each place before it hits my door mat.

i sense there will be alot of ebay sellers getting neg rep from impatient people who have paid for next day delivery and obviously wont get it.

i can understand the reason for postal strikes but no job is safe OR guarenteed to have a pay rise each year ( well maybe some are but not many).

they dont have my support or sympathy anymore, however they still have several packages, a cheque for £5k and several other mail im waiting for. i also notice that all my bills manage to make it through this postal strike with no delay.

This is terrible I have 1 day of post in a week, plain cheek, and when the postie came yesterday he was very rude to me as it took me 1 minute to get from my flat to the front door(as Im in a high up flat) and said "why did you take so long to answer were you in bed or something" then when I got items he said "next time dont be so lazy"

Don't think this will help to improve the situation either - would certainly upset me. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/topstories/2007/07/24/the-mail-pension-robbers-89520-19507647/

it is pants however the emergency service already have had to go to new pensions if they joined after a certain date and have to work until they are 70.
if only we used some sort of control over the countries resources instead of letting anyone and everyone have everything for free.
i remember this american woman came over to give birth, she was 6 months preggers and took 12 months maternity, stayed in UK gave birth had everythig for free and when baby 6 motnhs old she went back to america and she stated she came because the care was some of the best in the world and it was easy to come to uk, live here for 12 months, and leave without paying a penny for the medical care she had.
she stated that the nhs are hardly likely to send in the heavy mob to america for £5000 as it would cost them a fortune to deal with her. and she is right.

all these things damage the uk peoples lives further.

i have a couple friends who are posties, 1 has to work overtime each week as he is married with children ( what a mistake that is to live as man and wife with child), they would be £20,000 richer per year if they said they didnt live together. work that one out????

At least that was only for new people so they knew where they stood before they took the job on. For a lot of folk this equates to a pay cut which sucks!!

the strike was tuesday only
#28
Nope spoke to my parents 100 miles away and they didnt get any post today nor did any friends of mine, nor did my grandad who lives 800 or so miles away.
#29
varies, we have post today but none tomorrow
#30
as i said earlier, there is a postal strike, but why is it my bills still get delivered on time?
#31
Our post hasn't seemed to be affected at all :?
#32
what a suprise, no post AGAIN, this is ridiculous. by the time my post does arrive ( it should have been here on monday) the cheque i am expecting wont be put in until at the earliest tomorrow now, so the money wont clear until at the earliest next wednesday or thursday. if it had turned up on monday like first class post mailed at 8am on a saturday morning shoud, i would have had a cleared cheques by today.

all i can say it that it is a good job that cheque was not for something such as a mortgage payment or something else very important which could lose me my house or cost me a job if i were self employed.

ANY sympathy i may have had for these people has officially gone today. lets hope that the nurses, doctors and police dont decide to go on strike when ever they feel llike it because their pay structure has changed as have their pensions.

im miffed.
#33
