Does anyone ever book one day and travel the next anymore? Anyone know of any companies that specialise in this and does it work out any cheaper?

Same situation here. I want to go on holiday at the end of the week just for a day or two. Got a long weekend, got nothing to do here, want to get out for a little while. There just seems to be no way of telling websites that I don't give a **** about where I go, I just want to go. Instead, it's all tedious manual click click clicking through endless destinations and scrolling through lists. It sucks.

Lol we usually use lastminute.com - had some great late deals from them over the last few years, as we dont usually mind where we go so long as it's hot !!

We used to use a holiday auction site and we got some cracking deals.. but its defunct now and we've got kids so prices are always higher

Havent read other replies but try teletext holidays , they were doing some great all inclusive deals a couple of weeks ago.

I'm pretty sick of teletext and low cost holidays to be fair.. by the time baggage and all the other hidden costs have been added, the deals don't appear so good

I've had some very cheap last minute holidays through going places and co op, not online but the high street shops. A couple of years ago we got a week to Rhodes for £90 each, it was a lovely place, had a great time. Also got a week in tenerife for about £140 each

I guess as the econmical stranglehold grips tighter they book less flights in advance, this leaves less seasts to be had and therefore fewer empty ones come the departure date. This has probably led to the virtual disappearance of bargain seats on planes in peak times.

I find flights are generally cheapest either a day or two before departure or months in advance when they appear on the airline websites (e.g. march 2011 tenerife for £65 return at the moment!).
