Is this a virus?

Hi, my laptop is running slow and words do not appear as fast as I type, and I am not fast, sometimes letters are skipped and sometimes the curser will skip back so I am typeing in the middle of a sentence, is this a virus? I'v got Mcafee virus scan and that is not detecting anything, but I no something is feels wrong.

Are you sure you are not hiting the 'Insert' key? Also, there might be programs (virus scanner for example) working in the background which sometimes delays the letters typed.


Test the speed of imput by going to Control Panel, Switch to Classic View, find the Keyboard icon and try typing something in. You can change the speed with the sliders.

does it happen all the time? even after restart? are you using wireless?

that sounds like a bug to me

same thing happened to me and i had a worm

spyware detector was the program that killed it

i found mcafee rubbish personally

i have used

avast
spybot
spyware detector
spy shampoo
C cleaner
ect ect

i find Avira very good from download.com for free

Yes I am using wireless, it doesnt happen all the time but quite often, and not hitting insert key.

I don't know how it is on Vista but on XP press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to look in the task manager and see if anything is eating up your system memory or CPU.

You should also try downloading a spyware scanner like AdAware or similar. Only use a spyware scanner that has been recommended as a google search will bring up a few fakes.

I have glary registery which I downloaded about a month ago do you think it could be something to do with that?

Have done this and seems ok I think I might change mcafee to
AVG.

Can anyone give me the link to AVG as when I ggogle it there is a lot of choices, dont want to pick wrong one.

Make sure you get the free version.

Only install it after you have uninstalled McAfee and after you have disconnected from the internet.
