Yes it will be a good laptop for everything but gaming,

It's a cheap laptop, will be great for spreadsheets, word processor, and the occasional bits of websurfing and instant messaging. Nothing media intensive though, i.e dvd movies ok, but not anything HD (above 720p, or any gaming other than very casual games)

So it won't be up to a lot of websurfing? :?

will be fine for web and documents :)

not bad for the price actually, considering its from Comet.

Have a look on the Dell website, they are usually well priced

Not anything intensive IMO! Go to some of the flash intensive sites around, and it'll stutter. Youtube is doing 720p and 1080p videos now which is becoming standard, another few months and this machine will be struggling to keep up!

Have you had a good look at the specs? Although cheap, it's put together with a hodge podge of older parts for low usage. The processor is the modern equivalent of an intel celeron processor, designed for only word processing and spreadsheets.

OP completely ignore this above post.

The laptop in question will be absolutely fine for writing documents, browsing the web, watching videos on and offline etc..
For every day usage it's absolutely fine.

I have an old thinkpad 600x with 500 mhz processor and 320mb of ram that I occasionaly still use, and that can easily do all of the above, in context that machine is 10 years (!!!!) older than the one the OP has linked to.

Thanks, I thought I had lost touch completely! Pentium dual core and 4gb ram only up to 'occasional' surfing?

@the dandy p

Thats what I meant and what I said essentially!! Wow, way to blow things out of proportion! For what the OP wants, it is perfect, I specified in my original post that it wouldn't be any good for high performance, i.e HD video's and gaming, much of which will change dramatically when HTML5, and better discreet graphics are fast becoming standard. I wish people would read properly before judging.

@deek72 Occasional surfing is as long as a piece of string, some people do it daily for 7 hours plus, others once a week, but there is nothing wrong saying occasional, which is what most people do unless they are using it mainly for work!

On a side note, you say 4gb ram and Pentium dual core. I say hodge podge, because it comes with an operating system that can only use 3gb out of 4gb because it is 32bit. You would need to upgrade to an x64 version of Windows 7 to use all 4gb. The dual core processor in the spec as mentioned is in the 'budget range' of intel processors. It's funny how people will read 'Intel Dual Core' and instantly that becomes synonymous with quality when that really isn't the case anymore!

The reason also for the way I wrote my initial post, was because I answered judging directly from the spec in the link, which says it is 'optimized for widescreen HD movies, and gaming. This is clearly misleading, as this laptop would choke on a bluray!

jpxdude, how about you actually read before posting in future, the OP didn't ask about playing blu-rays, or ask about 64bit preocessors or if Dual core was as good as Core 2 duo, or anything like that...just if it was a decent laptop, which it is.
You seem to be suiting it to your own needs not the needs of someone who 'doesn't have a clue' and is looking at a relatively budget model.
Can you find a model with solutions to any of the problems you have suggested, for around £369???
If you cannot, then everything you have said is completely unrelevant, thus I refer back to my opening statement; read before you post.
