Own your own private island for an affordable price.

Located in Panama's Lake Gatun, one of the largest man-made lakes in the world.

A small island (3000 m2) surrounded by nature in such abundance that you could shoot your own National Geographic documentary here. This island has of course- sweet water all around, and although it seems that you are in the deepest jungles of the Amazon, you are actually only minutes away from the nearest town with a little marina and restaurants. Monkeys, parrots, tucans and even tapirs are found in the area.

There is cellphone coverage, and electricity poles on the mainland are only a couple of 100 meters away. This is a perfect spot for a nice waterfront villa with a pier and a boat house.

The island used to have a little house built on it, the only thing that remains from that is the septic tank and the toilet bowl, a throne at the highest point of the island.

The area was very popular when the US was still overseeing the Panama Canal zone for its abundance of bass, it is not uncommon to catch 50 to 100 in a day.

Infrastructure in the area is very good; in less than 40 minutes you can travel from Panama City to your island hideaway by a smooth tarmac road.

The island is not titled (like 95% of Panamanian islands) but is has a solid and uncontested right of possession (a free indefinite government leasehold). In case a construction is planned, we would recommend obtaining a 60-90 years concession that can be insured with a title insurance company to protect your investment.

:w00t: heat added for the sheer comedy of advertising an island compared to spuds and ben and jerrys from tescos.

If i could I'd snap it up right now!

:)

"the island is not titled" so if I buy it I can call it the isle of barky? I like that idea-could send the wife and kids there on holiday for a few years:whistling:

Maybe if we all chipped in with the money we saved on the Ben & Jerry's, we could buy it, and use it as a prison for all those who post Littlewoods deals. :giggle:

Hahaha, love it. I'll just have to buy LOTS of ben and jerrys to "help" with this idea. What a shame.:-D

Is it accessable by canoe :whistling:
#12
I bet there's a high probability that these islands are in danger of rising water-levels or something!
#13
im gonna buy the lot and flog them on ebay...
#14
I'm really going to need a big Xmas stocking for this deal!
#15
All joking aside, does anyone know more about these islands? Somehow man made makes it sound like this would be something worthless in 10 years time.

Please let me know if someone has some real info on this stuff.

Well, the islands on the cheaper end of the scale are probably susceptible to flooding. Notice they are almost always in the pacific where they have pretty heavy rainfall almost all year round (especially during August - October). You could wake up one day and you're floating around in the ocean... :w00t:

This is built on a lake, however. I'm not sure what assurance that adds...

May I ask what brought you across this island deal? I am assuming you are/were interested in buying one. In which case we could be neighbours. Imagine us sitting on our own ISLAND, browsing hotukdeals.:p

But seriously, so tempted, though this does not seem like it would be a good idea.

SO SO TEMPTED.

with global warming, its probably already been swallowed by the sea

How can you be tempted to buy a big lump of coral that looks about 6 feet above sea level at the most?
#23

I don't know when you put it that way. The worst part is you're probably right and I am being too silly to realise I am getting swept away by the romantic idea of owning an island.

Thanks for the persepective.
