I've never really used it before but it doesn't seem very easy in my opinion.
Also, can you never delete a song from ITunes without it disappearing from your Ipod next time it is plugged in?
Answers gratefully received along with any other advice about using ITunes.
Thanks.

I will have two devices on the one account, does this mean they will have to both have the same music on? If songs/albums are ticked for one device to sync with, then when the next device is plugged in and I tick different music for that to sync, then when the first one is plugged in again it won't have the same stuff ticked as when it was first plugged in!!!
Does this make sense to anyone?

Step 1. Download http://www.mgtek.com/dopisp/
Step 2. Delete itunes.
Step 3. Use Windows Media Player instead.

I hate itunes with a vengeance & nearly gave up on my ipod before I found dopisp!

Thanks for that. Had a quick look and it looks good. However, noticed it doesn't work with the latest generation of Ipod Nano. :-(

Anyone else got answers to my questions, or other advice?

i added my mams ipod following instructions from google searches. i had to create a seperate playlist for hers and mine, and tick the option to manually manage music in the summary menu. the songs save under music, i then have to add them to a particular playlist and the ipods sync from the playlist rather then the music menu.

hope that made sense

Thanks donna. I think I'll have to spend a bit of time sorting out playlists.
Have you found that when you rip a CD with multiple artists on it, it seems to make a separate album for each artist?

i think i know what you mean, yeah it does.

if you bring all your songs up and right click on a song, choose get info, then second tab along which is info. this will bring up a screen where you add your own information and you can change the existing, such as artist, album and track numbers. just go to album and type in the name of the compilation album. do this for all songs on that album, you should then be able to play just those songs by going through album menu. you may need to re-sync ipod after but not too sure, i always re-sync anyway. bit of a chew on but its the only way ive found you can do this.

hope it helps and doesnt sounds too jibberish, im no good at explaining things

You have to select the option (it's a tick box) to manually manage the device.
Then you can move it freely around.

It's normal and stupid... iPods take up more time than their simplistic image lets on. However, as an owner....

There is an option to combine files. Select required songs > right click > get info > options > part of a compilation

The only drawback is that these albums now appear right at the end of your album artwork list. MP3 tags always throw things on the iPod, it's a real pain and looks very messy. I prefer using folders in a file tree.

Thanks donna and MBeeching.
It all seems a roundabout and complicated way of doing things. I'm gonna have to investigate further and play around with things.
Is it possible to have two ITunes accounts on the same pc?

Another question - I've been ripping some CDs onto ITunes. But it's not downloading any of the album artwork - keeps saying it can't be found. What am I doing wrong? I've got the box ticked in preferences to say automatically add artwork.

I hate it when it does that as well. What I do, and I don't know if you are supposed to, is find a picture of the album on some other site, copy the picture and then when you select the album in itunes, paste the pic of the album onto the artwork bit. Hope you understand that ok.

Thanks. I did understand that and I've done it. Brilliant thinking. :-D

Now, how do I get Itunes to just copy the artwork automatically?
