Shite news, sir. And I have just noticed on another thread that your are from my neck of the woods.

Tell us what kind of work you can do and what age you are and I'll let you know if I have any ideas.

And I'm surprised to hear oil companies are laying folk off. I thought it was boom part II in Aberdeen.

You are well named. Maybe it's just me, but everything you write seems to be downright filthy, or steeped in innuendo.

It's great!

The job I do is being relocated so I've nothing to do after March, but, I work for a firm with no compulsory redundancies so they've gotta find me work. I won't put myself out to look for work, they can do it and I'll enjoy doing nothing until then.
I'll lose a lot of money as I'm on shift and will lose those payments associated with it.
There is talk they may offer 3 year's money in a voluntary redundancy deal, I'll have some of that.

sorry to hear that saxo.I found out from my firm if i was on a temporary contract they could keep me on that for a year plus but luckily it turns out although they said i was on one i was never actually put on it so i am so relieved i cant believe firms can keep people in limbo for that long .
hopefully you will find something to do to help out in the time being best of luck .

cheers everyone  off to bed now up at 4pm

Regarding shelf stacking, Aldi pay good wages for that so it'll tide you over for a while if you get a job there.

It's a nightmare when that happens! I got made redundant last month, knew it was coming though so hadn't done any work since beginning of December! Got a new job starting on Monday, so my days as a lady of leisure are coming to an end!

Good luck finding a new job Saxo and good luck with the interview Birdyboy

Warning, if you have any qualifications do not put them on your Aldi form, I applied not long after they first came to our shores and got a straight forward letter from them telling me no!!!

Oh ok then, I thought, f u too!! Stick to recruiting your low life losers.

I had an incredible school record, 2 years tech which I passed my IT Btec, loads of 0-levels and such, no criminal record, so why not even a tinker? Not even an interview!!!

And yes they were recruiting as it was a new store!!!

They probably thought you were over qualified. I wouldn't take it to heart. The way these supermarkets see it is that they spend money on recruiting and training they don't really want to employ someone who is going to leave as soon as a better job comes up. They usually choose people who have the skills for the job.

Sorry to hear your news saxo.

My 2 years at Tech were up and I needed a job.

Oh and for the over qualified thing is fing bs, I hate it when people say that. If I did not want to work there I would not have fing well applied.

By the way the abuse is not aimed at you it's aimed at companies who come out and say this sort of bs.

And for their reference I have never worked in an office in my life. I have worked in factories, the construction industry, market trader, taxi driving, etc, etc. So who the fk are they to judge a person as to whether they will stay long enough to benefit the company? And for their info I went straight into a factory not long after and was there for almost 2 years with just one day absent, got laid off because after 2 years they would have had to make me permanent and that is a way for them to keep costs down by finishing temp staff just short of 2 years.

Discrimination if you ask me!!!!

I personally hope the people who they employed robbed them blind. I hope they nicked all the expensive razor blades and added a few hundered quid extra costs to that store every week!!!

Dunno if this will help you but...
I'm a student and during my holidays i go in search of building sites in my area. When i find one ill ask to speak to the site manager and ask if he needs any work.

They always have jobs that need doing and my average wage from them is £7ph
its just basic labouring stuff, footing ladders mixing cement. walking the forklifts and cherry pickers e.t.c

Its temporary work and ive not come accross a building site that doesnt need work doing.

Great money sometimes ive earnt £1000 in a week before :D

hope this helps!

Really sorry to hear that saxo :-( Check out if you have any insurances (for mortgages /loans or such) that may offer you some protection / repayment holiday if you lose your job.

Hope you find something soon ((hugs))

Sorry to hear that Saxo, my dad worked in Aberdeen for years but now travels abroad (still within the oil industry)- bloody good money too! Is that something you would consider - I can ask him for contacts if so?
suspended#36
I worked in factories since i left school and it was the only thing i knew.so when my last company i worked for went under i had no job and no future as in our area nearly all factories were closing down or getting rid.I went for millions of interviews and always got the same answer(no experience)So in my spare time i started doing courses in computers and any other course that i liked the look of in the local college for free as i was on the dole.I started building a stack of certificates for reference and it helped me so much as at the end i got offered a job from 3 different companies.Don't give up mate and do some courses in your spare time as it looks like your willing to learn and also looks great on your CV.All the best:thumbsup:

hope you find something else soon :)
