TOP TIP When millions of spots come out, try picking selected spots to make a double hard tattoo style body mod.

I caught chicken pox from my littluns 6 years ago (my last sick day!)

Wasn't nice at all. Knocked me for 6 for 2 days. Spots and itches weren't nice either. Luckily no lasting effects.

I had it for the first time when I was 20- I was really rough with it for about 2 weeks (I had them in all the "personal"lady spaces if you know what I mean!)
I had them again when my husband got it about 3 years later but it was realy mild- just felt off colour for a day or so and had 2 spots on my leg .

I feel for you if your kids have got it too, but the younger you have it, the easier it seems to be. Try to get rest (way easier said than done) and above all dont scratch em!!! Try to have cool shower if poss to reduce itching- just pat dry tho- dont rub.

Hope it is a mild dose for you- take care, sending :friends: to you and your kids (oh, incubation period is 2 weeks after first spots have appeared)

Hi there,
My daughter aged 9 got it 2 weeks ago. It takes around two weeks to completely heal but may leave scarring if it has been scratched too much. Usually when one nears finishing the next one gets it.
My little boy of 3 and a half also got it but we are not 100% sure with him as he also has slight eczema too but is so much worse now... poor thing.
Anywayz, hope you are all well soon. :!:

My nephew is 13 and he still hasn't had them even though his younger brother has and my daughter has, he never catches them. Saying that, his dad didn't get them until he was 34 so they obviously have a carrier gene in them. I'm desperate for my 3 year old daughter to get them because it's far too stressful around holidays otherwise, I'm convinced she's going to get them and we'll be banned from the plane!!

The incubation period seems to be 14 days, although it could be more or less, but when my nephew had it he came to my daughter's birthday party because the spots had only just started to come out and he had that few at that point we didn't know what it was, anyway it turned out that he had got chicken pox and EXACTLY 2 weeks later, 7 out of the 9 other children at the party came down with it, all on the same day, it was all very spooky.

Get LOTS of calamine lotion and antihistamine tablets (or syrup for little ones) to ease the itching and good luck!!

Hope your feeling ok,
you can put sodium bicarb into the bath to help with the itching, I know they say to keep the spots dry but this does really work.
Also try the calamine cream instead of the lotion, and keep it cool prior to application.
Get well soon.

Get better soon :friends:

I thought you could only get chicken pox once?

Apparently if you only had a few spots the first time then the body doesn't build up an immunity to the bug and you can catch it again but it is quite rare. If you are completely covered with spots then you shouldn't get it a second time.

my eldest has had the spots for about 5 days now so fa im the only one to get a pox
there is my partner and 4 other children,so do u think if the rest dont get it within weeks they wont get them this time?
i really want the rest of them to get it now to save getting it when they are older
thanks 4 all the well wishes :)

If you only got the spots 5 days after your eldest, you probably didn't catch it from him but from the same person he caught them from. The maximum incubation time is 3 weeks so if the rest of the family haven't caught it by then as could get it from either you or your son, then no they probably won't catch it this time. Like you said, it's so easier to just get them out of the way.

How odd, I've just had a load of itchy red spots come up on my face in the last 24 hours, but only on my face..I've been feeling a bit fluey as well the last couple of days but put that down to a stressful few days at work and not getting very much sleep.

Didn't think it could be chicken pox as I remember having it when I was a kiddie?
Is it possible that the spots could be restricted to just one area?
