The children should be given a loving home, which is the most important thing. You can't choose your parents.

This is terrible.

Its situations like this that make me run the risk of becoming bitter and twisted.
Those poor poor children.
#5
how very sad. unfortunately these sort of people exist, and it's because of this "giving away their kids" thing that means their number will dimish over time.

there will be a couple desparate for a baby who will happyily have the pair of them and give them the love that all kids deserve

"Reports said the mother, 59, and father, 72.............."

WTF! :w00t:

I hope they have to at least pay for their upkeep for the next 18 years!

They are going to be hounded big time for this.

The article was in The Sun though so maybe "its the truth, the whole truth and nothing like the truth"

maybe for the best, when they're 10 dad would be 82! and a

poor babies :-( wanted a girl with all 3 of my boys but wouldn't have given them up for the world :)

Surely they should be arrested for child neglect?

Sad thing is, there is nothing to stop them from doing it again.

The whole thing screams from every angle of sick idiocy,

1. They decide to get IVF in India because they were rejected in the UK.

2. Get pregnant through IVF and come back to UK for NHS Maternity Care.

3. The Indian IVF was obviously sub-par not to check for sons, again in India!

4. Have girl twins and dump them on UK to be cared for.............

5. Will go back to gain success in a IVF son!!

Absolutely hideously ridiculous, they should stay in India if they choose to do such things.

"A couple who travelled to India for IVF treatment dumped their newborn twins at a British hospital when they found out they were girls.

Reports said the mother, 59, and father, 72, travelled to India for fertility treatment that would not have been allowed in Britain because of their age.

The parents, who were born in India but are British citizens living in Birmingham, reportedly told doctors they did not want the "wrong sex" babies immediately after the children were born by Caesarean section in Wolverhampton's New Cross hospital a fortnight ago.

The newspaper says the husband then asked medics how long it would be before his wife was fit enough to fly back to India for more IVF treatment in the hope of getting a boy to continue the family name.

It was reported the twins have now been transferred to a central Birmingham hospital, where they have not been visited a single time.

A spokeswoman for New Cross Hospital said she could not make any comment because of "data protection reasons".

Birmingham Council's social services department said it is investigating.

Countries such as India are known to display a cultural preference for sons.

An investigation by the BBC Asian Network last year revealed that between 1990 and 2005 almost 1,500 fewer girls were born to Indian mothers in England and Wales than would have been expected for that group."

these girls are like orphans, rejected at birth. the couple (more so the husband if he was so desperate for his wife to be well enough to go back to india for IVF) should be charged for child neglect, pay for 100% child support not just the minimum. they should also not have the IVF on NHS (we're not told of that yet).
#18
I hope someone will take them on if they really don't want them back, usually there are people out there who want to adopt children and some would prefer to take on a baby than a older child.

Someone in my family they spent about 30K on IVF and no luck.

Cant agree that the husband is more responsible than the woman for child neglect. they are equally responsible.

I'm sure there must be some kind of law against this..............

I'd take away their passports if I was Jacqui Smith.

Yeh I figured that, when I've seen fostering and adoption adverst and such,it's often older children available more so than babies.

iwas really hoping for a little boy when i was pregnant and was told at the scan I was having a boy......however when my wee bundle was born we all got a lovely surprise when we were handed a baby girl.....specially as I had bought everything blue!!!!:w00t:
didnt matter a bit too me though.....how could these parents do this??? I was just happy my baby girl was healthy...and actually it was a lovely surprise!!!! Thinking about having another baby and I couldnt care what sex it is as long as he/she is healthy...They should nt be allowed any more IVF.....I mean arent they alittle old anyway...my gran is only 65 and she already has a great grand daughter!!!

thats the point. they are not allowed IVF over here so go to India to do it then burden the rest of us with the NHS costs for childbirth and most probably 18 years of care :x

They won't be a burden if they are adopted, so it's not the "Most probably" option.

Agreed. People like that don't deserve a British passport (as do many other people) :x

If they are adopted, they are no more a burden than any other child, as there are no fee's paid to parents who adopt a child.

I worked for "Children and Families" dept of Social Services, as well as doing voluntary work with HomeStart for the last 7 years.

So the website is lies then, there is NO financial support for adoptive parents.
#33
I would take them.
That is so sad for the poor wee mites but they will be better off away from people like that.
What kind of parents would they be anyway?

The reason they couldn't have ivf here is a valid one as they are too old!! How would they be able to be there for the children as long as possible? OAP's should not have babies full stop.

No need for the dramatics.

If you read the website, they use the words "May" and "Might", you will find that "Regular" children are afforded the same financial support.

That's why I said that they are no more a burden than any other child. To say that the tax payer would be burdened with the costs of 18 years of care is always a possibility, but extremely unlikely.

I have worked with parents that have a "Right" to allowances, and they have extreme difficulty getting them.
Trying to prise money from the government for support that they "May/might" be able to receive is not one that I have come across to date.

Think of the children. :)
#36
OMG this makes my blood boil. If they want IVF in India stay in India but really what we have to look at is the por children being dumped. The fact that the y are allowed to have all this maternity care in this country is down to the voters allowing the governement to reign who in turn allow this to happen!
#37
What a disgrace! They deserve to be locked up flippin A$$ H0LE$!!

Curiouser and curiouser, but what a deeply sad story and shocking indictment on society today if it IS true...
