Dont get me wrong, the lassie is right to milk this for every penny she can for her childrens future. My own mother died from the very same cancer and Jades plight has brought back a lot of painful memories for me, my mother died at the age of 45 from it only 6 years ago, and it was, as you can imagine the most terrible stressful and depressing time of my life.

What i'm asking though is, shouldnt the telly channels/radio stations/magazines have a moral duty in saying enoughs enough? Should'nt Jade be allowed to spend her last few weeks/months with her family and without intrusion?

we can all switch off, personally its up to her what she sees as fit, we dont have to wath it, and i certainly wouldnt
#4
The daily mail and all the others need to leave her alone after the wedding and let her spend her last few months in peace with her kids
#5
So you chose to make a thread about it giving it even more publicity......ironic heh ?

If it upsets you as others have said switch off.....but I know the children around me are asking questions about cancer so with the bad comes the good

I don't see why she needs to be making as much money as poss for her boys - she needs to be spending EVERY second with her boys

What they gonna remember and appreciate? The money or the time?

my mother died of cancer just 11 weeks ago and while I feel sorry for jade and her kids I am just not comfortable with her on the front page of every newspaper every single day-yes she is getting money for her kids and fair play for that but I would be far more impressed if the newspapers, magazines and living tv were to at least match what they are paying her with donations to cancer charities.

she is not the only person in the world whose family are suffering with cancer but the papers would have you believe she is and I just find it all tasteless in the extreme.

Exactly, shes no different to anyone else in the same situation. The whole wedding thing is to make more money and give Jack a comfy life. Why didnt he marry the poor girl when she was 100% healthy?

It's the perfect newspaper story. The narrative is clearly laid out, with a rather sad ending already scripted.

The tabloids can make their final buck out of exploiting her and then hide behind some barely justifiable 'public service' message whilst those who vicariously live their lives through this rather tragic person can feel a sense of kinship with the mourning masses.

Watching a person's final moments without a true public service point is just the next step on the downwards spiral of reality tv and 'celeb' life.

She's become a character on a tv show. Everyone knows hoe it is going to end and unfortunately we're all complicit in the circus that is become ever more prurient. She was 'born' on Big Brother, destroyed in the newspapers, given the news she had cancer on a tv show and will die in the public eye.

It ranks with the 'Free Deidre' and Den and Angie storylines in terms of genuine public sincerity. At least those who make jokes about her condition are honest with how dehumanised a character she has become.

As soon as she dies, the next one will be lined up. Maybe Amy Winehouse will continue on her downward spiral, maybe Britney will relapse. Maybe someone completely out of leftfield.

Peaches Geldof would be a good one as there are easy parallels to make with her mother, or maybe a royal. Whoever it is, it's not a particularly edifying characteristic of this country.

well said , exactly my thoughts

it is very sad and one thing about jade is that she was never one of these ones taking drink and drugs and just abusing the fame she came into but instead turned it around and made herself money and a secure future for her boys and family its just sad that she wont be there in body to share it with them but i wish them all the best for tomorrow and hope she gets what every girl looks for a wedding day to remember :)

she could be doing this when the boys are at school for all we know? she did say she wants to try and maintain as normal a life as possible for them.
#16
and the end off the day, it is a sad waste of life and i understand as a mother that she wants to provide for her children maybe she just needs to be occupied to keep her mind of all that is to come........but i have heard on tv that after wedding then no more filming... then she and her family should be left in peace.............i feel so very sorry for their pain and for anyone who has to suffer by losing their mother in this way.
#17
I'm not against her making money in anyway but ,having experienced the very same thing even the thought of someone taking a photo of my mother in her final few weeks makes me angry. We are in a recession FFS, the media should be trying to pick us all up just now
#18
but none of us have the right to say what is right and what is wrong for jade and her boys only she can make that decision, and ther public are all to quick to judge, i think she is being quite selfless in this and only thinking of the kids future, it would be easy to just lay down and give up.

I don't read much about her to be honest ,
but if i didn't have long left i'd be with loved ones as much as i could , not in meetings with agents and the media.

i completely agree with what jade is doing i just cant believe how brave she is and i do hope the filming stops after tomorrow and the family are left to enjoy what time they have left together.

one thing I hope this does do is bring the subject of cancer of any type more into the mainstream media.

Everyone has suffered in one way or another with this terrible disease and too many people don't want to speak about the elephant in the room. By this whole jade thing if it means a whole load of woman who havn't been for smear tests now go or those who have been putting it off go then its been more than worthwhile. So good on her.

Another thing that really gets me is the lack of funding for research, treatment and everything concerned with cancer. I can't believe we have the need for all of the excellent cancer charities around who provide research and treatment including hospices, this should all be done by the govt and it really annoys me when they bang about terrorism or global warming being the biggest threat its not its this horrible disease and rather than throwing mounds of cash eroding our civil liberties because a few daft nutters might try again to drive into an airport I wish more emphasis would be placed on trying to get a cure or provide better treatments.

What about the inevitable 'After Jade' stories, tv shows and books that will pour out after this? Maybe a few commemorative plates and tea towels.

I wonder who gets the trademarks to use her image after she has passed away. This may be callous but the same people feeding the public with the current stories are currently planning on how to make more money out of her once she dies.

And even in a credit crunch, it's got to be a lucrative bandwagon.

Things are only real when a celebrity endorses them nowadays.

Quite so but I also feel it's the modern day equivalent of an old time freak show.

I agree and I don't think it's at all helpful in 'opening out' or 'publicising cancer' or ' letting people talk about the C word'. I think that that is drivel. Hardly anyone doesn't have a family member with a past or present cancer problem.
Does anything about this media frenzy highlight the causes of cancer, give advice as to how to avoid cervical cancer etc etc? They use spurious reasons, it's just the usual celebrity hoo-haa and the ludicrous trash in the gutter press.

Jade is ending her life as she lived it - that's her choice. I don't really have an opinion on that.

Couldn't care less about the whole thing.
The whole celebrity obsessed culture is just tragic.

Tragic people being watched by even more tragic people.

I phrased it badly!! I do have an opinion on the way that she has led her life. I don't have an opinion on why she has chosen to end her life the same way.

Jade is allowing filming obviously - I think its good.. Many people kno who she is and has seen her from when she was very healthy. I think its educating people a bit more... a realisation for some. Ive not read any articles and dont kno there context so i cant comment about them but as for the TV show.

agree

top story on the news isn't something like the remembrance ceremony in australia ,
it's jade getting her teeth whitened.

The whole thing has made me quite mad.
Don't get me wrong, as I would never wish cancer upon anybody, but the whole thing is just plain madness. I've never really followed the Jade story, but read bits here and there.
Firstly, why was she told she had cancer on the phone in the big brother house?
Who decided it was best to tell her in front of a camera rather than take her out and have someone tell her face to face?
Then there is the whole marriage thing. Jack has constantly cheated on her and referred to her as his "cashpoint" .
They are getting married for the money. That is what it's all about. Money. End of story. She's spending all this money (or at least people are donating certain things) on the wedding. Why not just ask everyone to donate to cancer research?
Obviously Max Clifford is coining it in from all this. I bet he's getting a nice little pay check.

Jade should have enough money from what she's done already. I'd imagine she has more money than the average person would earn in a lifetime. Obviously that isn't enough.

For me it's all been too public. The cameras stop running after the wedding apparently. But I bet that won't stop the paps waiting outside her house, to get the odd pic of her looking worse than she already does.
She won't get any peace now until she's gone. Its already been mentioned in the thread that she should just spend as much time as she can with her kids and thats how I feel if I were in that situation. I truly hope the girl dies happy.

I know I could be completely wrong about what I think, but that is just the way I see it.
