Jailbroken 3.1.2 Iphone 3gs stuck in recovery mode

Does anyone know how to get a iphone out of recovery mode. I've tried the power off, home and the power slider is not coming up. The phone was jailbroken with Blackra1n, and yesterday I noticed the wifi was not working, so after a bit of internet research I reset the iphone and then tried to blackra1n it again as it was tethered. The error code was a 1604 error. This is when the phone got stuck in this recovery loop. I spent most of yesterday looking for solutions, but nothing seemed to work. I was hoping the battery might run dry, but it seems to go into sleep mode when not connected to Mac via usb, so it might take a long time !!!
Any help much appreciated.

Whilst keeping the home button pressed start itunes, this will restore the phone.

Did you do it in the order stated?
- Make sure itunes is not started
-press and hold the home button
-plug charger into phone and then put usb into comp
-start itunes whilst keeping home button pressed.

If this doesnt work mate - sorry cant help. Thats how i did mine when it happened

I found a great solution for this without all the button presses (which didnt work for me) - and will save you an iTunes restore.

Download Quckpwn 2.2 (I know its an old JB tool - but trust me).

Run the exe and it will detect your phone is in recovery mode & bring it out of recovery mode, ready for the JB.

Once your out of recovery mode (the JB wont start, so dont worry), just exit the program.

Sorted :)

You dont get past the 1st screen mate, if you plug in your phone, then run the exe, it should bring it out of recovery mode (I have done it on my 3GS a few times).

You should be out of recovery mode when it brings up the screen of ipod/iphone etc to choose from (this is the point where you can exit the program).

Make sure your phone is turned on with the itunes/apple log showing when you run the exe.

Still no joy - ran 2.2 on mac, didn't work. Booted up old xp machine of the kids, and downloaded the 2.2 version and that won't run, keeps crashing before startup screen!
Not having much luck here !

Sorry - I ran it on an XP machine (make sure your running the correct version on your XP machine - i.e it obviously wont be the same exe you ran on the mac).

Only other thing to do (if that doesnt work), is to turn on the phone, plug it into your machine, open up iTunes & leave for 30 mins (iTunes should detect it after about 10-15 mins). You "may" need to restore it from this point though (although mine normally just boots itself back up - the Quickpwn trick is used to just get it out of recovery in a matter of seconds).

Thanks ChrisUK will give that a go
