Totally agree. Went shopping yesterday and was so crap. And even electrical items seem to have been cheaper on black Friday

January sales last 12 months a year now. Do your research.

Very true. Looked around m&s yesterday and all the oldies were buying all the sale items which were far more expensive than online. They looked at me as though I was an alien when I told a few of them lol

I popped into h&m yesterday to pick up a jacket for my son that was in the sale. Ended up buying it online instead as 25% cheaper and delivered for free. Other than that haven't seen much worth getting.

The whole point really is that there is not sale, you bought it all at full price if the shops have got it right!

We have all ended up wanting everything on sale.

My assumption is that everyday prices will go if the £ remains low and if Brexit deals are not in place. Its likely we will see a return to that sort of price gap that existed in 80's, 90s and early 2000's between UK and prices and other countries.

In my retail days, the first thing my employer did for January 'sales' was to buy in a load of tatt, over-price it and sell it off to the 'bargain' hunters.

I was online yesterday morning but thought I would just go on store as I thought it would be more convenient but in lakeside it was a load of crap!!! Need to do it tonight online

The online January "sales" are/were just as big a con; the gaming monitor I wanted went up by £140 on December 18th, then on the 25th, they took £70 off for the sale.........

Nearly everything I looked at was substantially cheaper in November

all sale sale a con January sales, black Friday etc most stuff is cheaper leading up to sales, a week or so before a sale price are increased and then decreased the week of the sale but these prices are usually more than the weeks leading up, don't know why people are so surprised its been the same for years now
#21
Have they ever been much cop ?
people have generally spent any spare cash they have
I don't remember buying anything much ever in the new year 'sales'
#22
Not been great online either - in fact, almost non-existant re the items I've been watching for months.

I or family members have been needing certain items for months and I've been holding off waiting for the 'usual' sales online and instore, almost none of them have materialised this year. :(

I have managed to pick up one or two bargains here and there throughout the year - we all do that - but the 'sales' - non-event.

Seems black friday is the new thing now. January sales have been made redundant.

Is Black Fried Salad not usually on offer in a sale, or do you just agree with Brendan on this?
#26
Seems to be a lot based on rrp or brought in for the sales (no reviews so rings ones bells)

I guess one has no be happy with the final price irrespective of what it says on the label!

the best sale was on black friday, but obviously it depends what you need.
