We are visiting Jersey for the first time next weekend.
Could any members offer advice regarding the current cost of petrol and diesel on the island compared to UK.
Any advice on what items to buy and what not to buy compared to UK mainland pricing would also be useful.

The last time i went to Jersey, which is about 10 years ago mind, it was VAT free, so everything is 17.5% cheaper than here. Not sure if that's still the case. There's a really cool surf shop called Freedom just outside of St. Brelades, which you should check out if you like that sort of thing.

Where abouts are you staying?
Aww lucky you. I remember going to Jersey some years back and It was lovely. Planned to take my mum again a couple of years ago but she got really really sick just a couple of weeks before we were due to go and the whole lot had to be cancelled. Lost alot of money. Have a fabby time :)
went to jersey a couple of weeks ago, didn't notice the fuel prices but I found cigarette prices on the plane there and back were better than the deals in the duty free shop at the airport and the deals in the local shops.

I used taxis over there and the bus as the island is only small. St Helier can be a nightmare to drive round if you catch it at the wrong time (roadworks blocking a couple of the main roads)
200 cigs on the plane £20 or 400 for £35. 200 for £26 in the duty free shops.
We am staying in St Helier and travelling by ferry from Weymouth.

Fuel prices would be handy to know as I am taking my car.

Any information on pricing for DVDs, CDs, Games and electronic / photographic gear would be much appreciated.
We were in Jersey in late July 2008 and petrol prices were almost identical to those in the UK.
I was in guernsey in late july 2008and petrol was about 95p a litre but this includes a local tax to cover road fund licence because there isnt any car road tax in guernsey
