Although everyone knows Santander has a terrible track record and against everything in my head that told me not to, I tried to open a current account due to their generous 5% interest on credit balances with the intention of using that as a sort of savings account and keeping my existing HSBC account as a current account... therefore not having to deal with them very much! Weeks and weeks ago I sent off all the documents they requested (copy of driving license and a utility bill alongside the application form) - they claim not to have it! Funny that, seeing as I sent it recorded delivery and it was signed for at their offices!! Has anyone else had this happen and what did you do? I'm concerned that all my personal details are floating around somewhere and unsurprisingly, they are being useless about it! I've spoken to the people who apparently "chase new applications" and they just fob me off with the usual excuses... am I alone in this or is it a familiar story?!
