I have a particular dislike for Jimmy 'Greavsie' Greaves, the ex-pro footballer and sun columnist. Thankfully his full page saturday column was cut to 100 words a few years back, enough to make it easy to miss reading his 'I know everything about football, i'm always right' spiel.
So, bored, I just flicked through the sports pages of yesterdays paper to see what the columnists had predicted for the Man U and Chelsea games. Here comes Greavsie:
"The competition is dying"
"Man U and Chelsea are surrounded by clubs for whom cup glory is a distant memory"
"...become a competition passed between the big boys"
"Clubs do not even have an open top bus ride when they win it now" (what???)
Now, nobody could have predicted those results, or that of the game currently on BBC1, but it is nice to see the old duffer being caught out spouting his usual nonsense!
Oh, and FYI the win by Portsmouth yesterday was their first victory at Old Trafford in 51 years! Roll on Bristol Rovers at 6!
