Understandable. Applying for jobs sucks.

If after that many applications I can't find a job, I'd be feeling pretty damn depressed too. Although my qualifications > hers.

currently unemployed due to a silly bad move at my last.. really messed up

but i know how she feels obviously not as bad but it is so depressing.

every job these days wants experience and every interviewer has so much choice as alot of people are all after the same job, how do people expect us to get exp if no one will employ us! catch 22.. its very very hard these days.

Wow someone ashamed not to be working, most on here will be asking "WTF IS DAT REAL!?"
#7
Thats a bit of an assumption that she only killed herself because she couldnt find a job,No one but her knows the real reason,
#8
I wonder if she applied for work in a shop or fast food place, I am pretty sure they would have hired her.

Maybe aiming too high.

very sad for all her family and friends, whatever her reasons

Dont think places like that recruit british white anymore pinkleponkle. Her options are limited

Reminds me of something Damian Marley sang:

Want to commit suicide
Cause you've been denied your 9 to 5
You're in 2 deep

even more limited now, unless she gets work in experimentation.

that's out of order, someone has died, show some respect

Maybe the employers saw a defect in her; if she was prepared to kill herself over the fact she could not get a job. 200 jobs is a lot to apply for with no success. Maybe she was applying for the wrong jobs? What kind of job was she hoping for, studying for those kind of 'fluff' subjects?
I am sorry for her family, don't get me wrong. Losing a child must be awful and I cannot imagine that pain.
But this does not make me fear for my own children's lives.

I can see this post going down in flames....it is a shame when anyone takes their own life.....

BUT..........3 A-levels (2 B;s and 1C grade is good - but in the competitive job market really isn't great in this day and age) also with the added fact that she dropped out of her film and media degree at university shows that she had problems way before the applying for a job stage. To kill yourself and have others think that you felt you had no future - despite the fact that she was in a university course and decided to leave it???

In my mind this girl did not commit suicide due to the fact that she could not get a job.....this is a media wonder story to highlight (on the run up to an election) that unemployment has reached an "all time high". The paper said that she did it after receiving a rejection letter - simple maths says that if she had applied for over 200 jobs over 2 years she must heve been getting rejected at an average of one every 3 days. It makes obvious sense that she has committed suicide shortly after one...She had other more deep seated reasons.

Like I said it's a shame and my sympathy and prayers go out to the family, but the reasons they (news and family) are using to justify it just don't add up in my mind. I suppose it is whatever gets you through.

idiot.

Yea i see it from your point cau96176

She had 2B's and 3C's but they dont tell us what they were in.
Dare i say it they couldnt be that great to get into a "Film and Media" degree.
2 years off work, she could have went back to University or college and been earning more with Bursarys than Jobseekers.
GCSE's dont count for anything unless your working in shops and the likes.
A-Levels then you need decent ones, or go back and get better ones.

And at 21 applying for a Nursey job, she had no chance for kinda implies she was searching for the wrong jobs.
Nurseries employ 16yr olds to pay minimum wage to, or people with Nursery qualifications and experience (she had neither) to be in charge of said 16yr olds.

Media spin on the run up to an election

I would also like to say to this ...... "someone has not died"

but "someone has chosen to kill themself"

but that's a WHOLE other debate

Did she not realise she could have just got preggers and claimed benefits?
#23
:(
hope there is more to the story.. deeper reasons..... seems a waste to be honest. wtf

Don't say that, soon enough we will have the same crisis as China, only one kid per parents.

Seems a bit extreme, probably the paper twisting the story. It is afterall the Daily Mail.

There are some sick comments in this thread, what is wrong with some of you people, mocking someone who has passed away.

I'm outta this thread it's a disgrace.

Poor lass and her family, perhaps she should have stayed in London and looked for a job, she would have a much better chance than in Darwen which isnt exactly the job capital of the UK.

But who knows what her state of mind was and the reasoning behind it, very sad for the people left behind.

Even after 50-100 failed job applications she should've questioned the reasons why she had been rejected so many times....

Back home, she set her sights on teaching, applying for secretarial or dinner lady jobs at local schools in the hope of becoming a teaching assistant.

If she really did have dreams on teaching she would need some experience in that field, and dinner lady/secretarial work would've been limiting, so really she should've perhaps had 6 months-1 year of volunteering/unpaid work experience in a number of different schools. Perhaps starting off with assisted reading with younger kids, going on school trips to show that she has control over small groups etc. Also this would've given her insight if it was the career she wanted, unfortunately it is all too late...

It's such a shame and a tragic loss to the family....

But there are are jobs out there if you want them, I work for a company who help disabled people find jobs, we had our best ever results last year, supporting over 10,000 disabled people find work and come off benefits, this was an increase from 7,500 the year before and was approx 15% over our initial budget to the goverment, so just to say if you really want a job you can get one, it just depends how willing you are.
#32
The law makes it easier to get a job if you have a disability. Also employers are incentivised to provide work for the registered disabled. That's no bad thing, however you can't use your experience with placing your clients to understand hard it is for able bodied persons to find work.
