How does it work. Do you go in and tell the staff you saw it cheaper somewhere else providing it was in stock. Even if it was in stock could they still refuse the price match?

Thanks

Pretty much yes, but they will check. They could refuse but it is uynlikely considering they honoured the wii deal from bestbuy recently (and that was just 1 stores opening offer with limited stock)

Is it a tv you're looking at? if so there are some pricematch threads on the avforums.

When I last looked (a couple of years ago) the item had to be in stock within a certain distance of the store and the item had to be on display at the price you stated and it doesn't apply to online (like Amazon). If its not on display then they'll answer no. Sometimes they'll send someone to check so it can take a couple of days...

I would ring the dept and say you've seen the item cheaper elsewhere and ask if they'll pricematch. You'll need the address of the store that has the item at the lower price.

It has to be an actual store and not an online retailer like Amazon.

You have to pay the full price and then claim the difference back. Can take upto 30 days.

I did it with a TV last year. It had to be in stock and identical warranty terms etc.

Nah, you can ask them to price match before you buy the TV, I did this a few years ago. I emailed my local store, sent them the link to the other retailer with a better price and they emailed back within 24 hours saying that they would price match and gave me a number to call and sort it out.

Did'nt have to claim the difference back on the wii consoles, they discounted it at time of ordering, Many HUKD'ers can vouch for this

I want to buy the Sony 40EX503

Richer Sound are meant to have it for £645, I'd like JL in Liverpool One to match the price with the standard 5 year warranty that they do.

It was Richer Sounds who JL price matched for me so I don't see a problem if the RS store in Liverpool (has to be within x miles (I think it's 20 miles or something like that) of the JL store) and both RS and JL have stock of the TV.
Email JL and ask them, include all the information and they will get back to you within a few days.

a FEW DAYS???

christ at Currys we have to do a price check and match on the spot!

thats such a crap service.
free limited warranty I know, but a few days to do a price match is terrible.

I was made to pay full price on the day and claim the difference back. They said they would only match it on the spot if I'd agreed it with head office and had it in writing. This was in Sheffield.

They also quibbled that it wasn't like for like, as John Lewis offered a 5 year warranty and the one from Richer Sounds was only a 2 year one. Which I said was bull anyway as the 5 year JL warranty was suppose to be FREE.

I did get a cheque through for the difference after a couple of weeks.
