Who will be the starting centre backs if he isn't fit for the world cup?

Headline: John Terry's World Cup dream in serious doubt after England and Chelsea defender suffers suspected broken metatarsal

Carragher or King - possibly both if Rio isn't 100% either.

I wonder if Wayne Bridge is going to follow in Carragher's shoes and come out of international retirement now too.....

Oh dear, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy

Fingers crossed it is worse than feared.

When I seen Capellos provisional squad the other day I didn't think they had enough quality to win World Cup so an untested central defence partnership won't help

I think a defence of

Johnson---Carra---Ferdinand/King----Cole

would do okay tbh.

I'd rather have Dawson and King in the centre, but that's only because I think Carragher is past it.

But Carra has been poor this season, Ferdinand is only starting to get his form and fitness back and King is always an injury worry even though he has been doing well of late
[mod]#11
Brown in for Terry because Carragher can move in to the middle if he was earmarked for being right back.

Dawson is a good shout and I really rate him, but I think Carraghers big match experience (obviously from European games, rather than internationals....) gives him the edge. He had a poor start to the season, but over the last 3-4 months he's been playing well.

Nick Clegg seems to get all the deputy jobs

Dawson and King did well away to Man City which was definitely a big match (for Spurs:whistling:).

If Terry and Ferdinand are out then I'd rather go with a unit that knows each other well. Carragher seems to have been bought in to cover right-back anyway.

Damn Man City, breaking Micah Richards. :x

Yeah you have a point there about the existing partnership between King and Dawson, but I'd still go for Carragher's experience. Funnily enough, no ones mentioned Upson in this thread so far, who I'm pretty sure was 3rd choice CB a few months back??

I'm not too sure about Carragher being cover for Johnson tbh - he hates playing RB for Liverpool, so can't see that he'd come out of international retirement to do it for England. It's a strange one that.

I don't rate Micah Richards as a centre-back at all, even going back to before City ruined him :)

thing with king though, when he plays a match he needs a few days off to let his knee recover, so really isn't the best lidea for a world cup with intense matches so close to another, alright if he was to be a bit part player for the odd game

He managed the last four games of the season for Spurs in the space of 12 days or so, so why not for England?

I agree. The group games are spread out, and he shouldn't have to play in them all.

The problem may be in the quarters, semis and the final - but he managed to drag himself through the final prem games, so he should manage.

Upson - I think he suffered in a bad West Ham team. He always seemed to do okay for England.

If we get to the last eight, then yeah, I'm sure his recovery time between matches will suddenly get a bit quicker.

Slightly OT, but I saw Maradona's Argentina 30-man squad earlier, and can't believe he's left out Cambiasso and Zanetti. Cambiasso has had an excellent Champions League campaign this season.

I didn't say otherwise, did I?

What I will say though, is that he is a dirty lowlife cheating scumbag, and his dad sells coke and his mum is a common thief.

FACT!

Oh but didn't you know he is MR CHELSEA

Well according to Messrs Keys, Gray, Redknapp and all his other bum boys on Sky Sports

Maybe the England squad should have been sponsored by Bupa with the number of injuries sustained.

So if Karma's response is to possibly break a bone in his foot 3 days after lifting (for the pedants) the Premier League trophy, what must Rio Ferdinand have done to be injured most of the season.

And what on earth must Gary Neville have done to deserve that face?

Hmm what would be worse not winning the league or not winning the world cup

I hope England win it now and Terry is remembered as the man who got stripped of the captaincy and didn't even get to play in the world cup. Oh and for the icing on the cake Bridge to come in as cover and score the winning goal in the final

he's fine and should play in the FA cup final lol then hopefully lift the world cup in july

Personally, I'd prefer to just have the best players available.

It was nice to see Terry on the pitch with his family and I hope this whole 'scandal' blows over because there are kids involved.

He wasn't the first chap to do something stupid, he won't be the last.

Indeed.

England and Chelsea defender John Terry should be fit to play in Saturday's FA Cup final against Portsmouth despite injuring his right foot in training.
The Chelsea captain was taken from the training ground to hospital on Wednesday but a scan revealed that he did not suffer a break as was feared.

After all of this Terry Bridge stuff, I got a real bad feeling hes going to give a pen away and knock us out. If he doesnt do it, carragher will give it his best shot
