Joiner / Carpenter prices for Internal Door fitting How much?

Ok I have phoned up about a dozen of these off yell.com for quotes but have not got an answer of any of them, wether landlines or mobiles that I have called.

How much would it be for 5 internal doors to be fitted?

Would I be able to show them what I want online say and for them to collect from Homebase if they fit the door frames, the doors there are available from about £22 each and the door handles need be bought seperately, does it work like that, that you show them what you want, they go get it and bring it back and fit it?

How much would it cost per door to be fitted?

There a B&Q nearby and a Jewson too, never been into Jewson so don't know if they even sell doors.

Not possible for me to get the doors in myself,no transport and well Homebase don't do home delivery on these kind of items.

roughly abt £30 a door

My Mother was quoted £40- £50 a door. That was just to fit the door, not collection, frame, handles etc. If you know a joiner or a friend does it would definately be worth calling in a mates rates favour!

they would charge you more for picking doors up hon

havent you got a nice neighbour who is handy and give him a few quid for doing it -

or

I don't know anyone who would be able to pick up something like this due to the size,my partners Mum only got a car. B&Q don't deliver doors,it's only reserve online.

I'd carry 1 door at a time with my partner, but these places are too far out from where I need them to go. I've carried back laminated flooring before!

Yeh I don't really know anyone, and I've heard door hanging is quite hard. My parents took off their living room door years back to decorate and had terrible bother getting it back on,s we not going dabble ourselves.

Wickes deliver online, Jewson probably go in and arrange delivery,I can get to a Jewson easy too.

i would just need measure up properly and I guess the workman could take off any little excess for fitting which should be expected.

Putting doors back on if you've taken them off is really easy.

Fitting doors/frames for the first time isn't that hard really. If you know someone who's done it before to give you a few tips then most diy capable people could do it.

My husband is a joiner and he charges £30 - £40 a door, (if it's heavier it is more difficult and takes longer so charges more) But if he was doing 5 doors he would probably knock about £20 the total. It is quite difficult to hang a door and can take a some time to do.

Yhe I'm happy to pay about £30 per door,as was stated by 1st person who replied.
It's just the case of getting it sorted and phoning around and them answering phones, might need call in evening those ones with landlines.
Get as many quotes as possible as some people may charge twice as much.Least I know Wickes do deliver online.
So much to do and doubt it be all arranged by time I move in.

I would go with around £30-40 too.

Why not get the joiner in first he may be able to give advice on door types sizes and places to get them from. etc.

You can then offer him some dosh if he will pick them up too (if you can't get them delivered from a shop).

I always find it easier to involve the workmen right from the start rather than half way through after you have got all the stuff..

Yeh,I'm going have to give them all a call in evening and get an idea, and see who will come out without a call out fee too if I go that route.
I'll print off online what doors I want and show them.

I find it strange how all these people are 'desperate' for work yet when you phone them up they either don't answer or don't turn up to look at the job after agreeing to.

Wickes deliver online

Unless they've changed things recently you can get items delivered from the store. I've had a garage door and some internal doors delivered by them before (was a couple of years ago though). The charge varies according to how far you live from the store. If you have a Wickes handy its worth giving them a ring to check...

I'd ask the bloke that comes round if he can recommend anyone, that way you trust the bloke laying the floor and he is not gonna give you bob the builder if he wants more work from you.
