Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has sensationally left Stamford Bridge, according to BBC Radio 5live football correspondent Jonathan Legard.

The news comes just 24 hours after the disappointing Champions League draw against Rosenborg.

Legard understands that Mourinho has texted senior players, including skipper John Terry, with the news of his departure from Stamford Bridge.

There has been no official word so far from the Premiership club.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has left the London club, according to reports.

The reason for his reported departure is not known. But there has been speculation over his future after a string of lacklustre performances.

The reports follow the Blues' disappointing Champions League draw at home to Norwegian minnows Rosenborg on Tuesday.
There has been no confirmation yet from the club.
The Blues manager's position was the subject of continual scrutiny last season.
Mourinho refused to blame his strikers after Rosenborg held Chelsea's millionaires to a 1-1 draw.
But the Portuguese coach was clearly frustrated and alarmed by his team's failure to score more than one goal against the Norwegians even though they created a hatful of opportunities.
Mourinho declared after the match: "Of course I am alarmed. I am not happy. We cannot score goals.
"I am disappointed but the history of the game was simple, we had 20 chances and scored one goal. So maybe we need 40 chances to score two - and 60 to score three."

I wonder how much it pays?

Wouldnt mind doing it for a few weeks and earn more than you would all year in a normal job!

I'm actually sad to see him go, as he brought much needed humour to the game and despite what anyone says, he is a very good manager.

You have to bare in mind that when he took over, he was in his early 40's, which is a very young for a high profile manager and even though he achieved great success with the 100's of millions he was given as a gift, he dominated Europe with a shoe-string budget as well at Porto with the UEFA Cup and Champions League with back to back success.

You could tell he's not been happy this season and he hasn't had money to spend either, with Malouda his only non-free transfer summer signing and he wasn't given money to spend last January as well, when he was desperate to sign a cover centre back, when there were no back ups and Terry was starting to struggle with niggling injuries.

Regardless of leaving Chelsea managerless just before a crucial league game against Man Utd, which I suspected would have received negative media response immediately after the game, so maybe it was a good time to leave to avoid further backlash after the recent poor results against Villa, Rosenborg and then Utd.

Also, I'm sure he's left with a brilliant pay packet for his mutual send off and he'll easily be able to walk into any high profile job vanacy anywhere in the world.

I hope he remains in close contact with English football and wish him the best for the future, I know this will be a sad day for a lot of Chelseas supporters who adored him. :)

On the flip side, i don't.

He was disrectful towards other teams, fans and his employers. He was arrogant and self absorbed and thought that football revolved around him. He also had a complete dissrespect for British law (his dog incident) and most of all he was a CHEAT. (Champions League ban that he bragged about flaunting).

Goodbye and good riddance...............please don't return. :)

"Chelsea are set to name Avram Grant as their new manager replacing former boss Jose Mourinho..........The 51-year-old.... is a close friend of Roman Abramovich"

After the draw on Tuesday was all the excuse that Abramovich needed to get his best buddy in.

WTF!, how old are you?

How can you just change teams like that.

Sad news for the English game, im no Chelsea supporter but he was a very good manager, always had something to say, always intresting.

Being chucked out by Roman for this Isreali is just silly.

I hope Chelsea's season just turns terrible and finish out side of even the UEFA cups spots.

Henry was missing for most of last season as was a lot of other superstars and in a way, we're doing better without henry because we no longer have 1 targetman and every time he was marked out of the game, we struggled to do anything because he demanded the ball.

Now we've got goals coming from everywhere and the team has new found belief, the only thing that worries me is our lack of squad depth for certain positions.

By the way....... who supports Man Utd, then jumps ship to Newcastle. :giggle:

Not much of a football fan then?

I hate Chelsea but I must admit Mourinho does make me smile. I think people took his character and what he said too seriously.

And he certainly added something more interesting to the off-field talk which previously consisted of Ferguson and Wengers lame bickering at each other.

I'll certainly miss him.

I think this could be the beginning of the end for Chelsea. It's obvious Abramovich wasn't happy with him and now he has his mate in charge of Chelsea, but is he really the right man for the job?

I must admit i have never heard of Avram Grant and i'm sure i'm not the only one. From what i have read he is not the most attack minded manager, which seems strange as Abramovich has been wanting Chelsea to play more entertaining, attacking football.

I can see Chelsea having a poor/dull season and Abramovich losing interest in the club and jumping ship, and then Chelsea will really be in the s*** !

Which i will be more than happy with as a United fan :p Then we will see what all those Chelsea fan who said they didn't buy the league have to say :giggle:
#22
I'm gutted just bought his afterhave as well HUGO BOSS. :whistling:
#23
he is a great coach, but too hard to communicate with, a conflict person
#24
btw I read that he can go to Barcelona if frank reekard makes other mistakes ;)
#25
Mourinho left just before the derby with Man Utd, too bad... 0:2...
