I know its awful.. up until November last year we paid for our dentist & prescriptions etc, then my partner was made redundant and had to claim JSA and because it was contributions based we had to still pay until he decided to go to college and came off the JSA.....if you work all your life you get nothing in this country......ARGGGHHH it just makes me mad to think about it :(

But you can claim for Dentist treatment. You just failed to register for it and inform the dentist first before having treatment.

Edit: ^^^^^^^^^ OK - looking at the post above..... have things changed now? I know you definitely used to be able to.

If you've got a dental school near you then try them, my mates ex was in her final year and fixed a chipped toothed, re-done a couple of fillings and generally gave my teeth a right good seeing to. They are always looking for people to come in as its helps them. Its free but I'm not sure if I'd have been so confident getting a first or second year student. lol

I think you need to be on INCOME based JSA rather than CONTRIBUTIONS based JSA to get free eye test, dentistry, etc etc etc

£45 per week isn't right either, unless under 18 I think :?

ok - back on topic. you obviously have redundancy pay so can afford to pay for treatment as you must be on contributions based JSA. You have to be on income based JSA to get all the tons of freebies i.e didnt save anything whilst working or no redundancy. I do see where you are coming from though

back off topic. £91 for 2 weeks is just wrong so query it. Should be around £125 every 2 weeks.

dont forget council tax and housing benefit if you have savings below around £16K
