Judas to star in Dr Who

Eric Cantona is reportedly being lined up to star in a future episode of Doctor Who.

According to the Daily Star, producers are hoping to cast the footballer turned actor as an evil alien. Series star Matt Smith had previously suggested that Cantona should play a villain on the show.

A BBC insider apparently told the paper: "Matt has made a huge impression. The writers and producers all value his input and give his ideas careful consideration."

"They like the thought of a French baddie and Eric would be perfect. Hes got acting experience and has charisma.

Cantona ended his professional footballing career at Manchester United in 1997. He has since starred opposite Cate Blanchett in the 1998 film Elizabeth and played himself in the 2009 Ken Loach film Looking for Eric.

Doctor Who is due to return to BBC One for a special episode this Christmas.

Eric Cantona: Leeds to Manchester United
Eric Cantona was part of the Leeds team that won the final old first division in 1992, yet later that year, Manchester United stepped in with a surprise bid of £1.2m and the Frenchman moved to Old Trafford. Cantona went on to become an Old Trafford idol, helping the team to become the dominant force in English football that they are now. He was voted by fans as Manchester United's Player of the Century

Rumours at the time said he was doing a Terry/Gerrard and players wanted him out!! Dorigo and Chapman amongst them. Just rumours - who knows. Anyway he went on to turn Man Utd around.

Hull's even smaller, I'm not doubting that for a second. As I come from a city with a small football team I can relate to yours

If you really have to give away spoilers, it's accepted interwebby etiquette to warn people first, by tagging the message with a nice big *SPOILERS* warning, and then hide the spoilers out of even accidental sight. Not doing that is really, really ****.
