Given all the vast amounts of freebies, offers, sign-ups etc on here, and the fact (i have found personally) even if you tick the "no thanks, don't pass on my details EVER" boxes, just wondering how you folks get on with junk mail.

Do you get loads of posted junk, and/or spam.

For me, no matter what i do, i can't stop getting post from:

Staples, BT, AOL

I've rang them, emailed them and no matter what.

On the plus side, John Lewis removed me, or so it seems

I don't sign up for many freebies if any, but i guess a lot of folks do.....
So.......

Gmail is great at stopping spam... most of the crap gets filtered, though I do have to check it manually sometimes incase something important is in there!

Register with the mail preference Service. Its just like TPS

I found that stops a lot of the snail mail

Register with the mail preference Service.
Does this work if you have agreed to buy from a company already? I have bought from staples, and i guess accepted they'd post me a brochure periodically. What would the mail preference service do for me in this instance?

if you have asked them to stop I'd write "return to sender" in huge letters and pop them back in the post

Viking Direct send me bulky catalogues seemingly every week. Nothing I can do to stop them. Nature's Best are also bad for this.

Both of these are companies I have ordered from, there was no option to check a box not to recieve junk mail (I always check this when it is available).

Just rip up all the crap into tiny pieces & post it back to them using the SAE. They will soon stop sending you stuff...............
