Just about had enough

Who is in the same boat?
I work Damm hard for 60-65 hours a week, to earn just enough to feed, clothe and put a rented roof above our heads, for me, my wife and 4 year old daughter.
Just to get so annoyed to find, through no fault of there own, people who dont work, are living a better lifestyle than me!!!
I could rant on about this all night, but It just infuriates me.
Welcome to Great Britain.
Rant over!!!!

too true
im actually receiving housing and council tax benefit for the first time in my life since having my baby

i only bring in just over £450 pm (smp) and my partner receives disability money of £60 pw and £140 every other week

we get child tax credit/working tax credit which has been ballsed up at the mo by the tax credit idiots

im not going to go back to work full time, but i will be working part time instead

it is a struggle but we are happy, i cant see how some people on benefits can live the life of reilly as we certainly do not, they must be working on the sly:x

Ok...So I pay £600 a month tax, £260 a month national insurance, £320 into a pension I will probably never see......Just asking.....whats the point?
#14
i agree hun, i feel the same, my partner and i work very hard, and can just about get the bills paid, and have been on the housing list 4 years to only just get a place, yet if we gave up and went job seekers we would have been housed 4 years ago, makes ya so.........o cross
but thats what makes us working class stronger. at least we can hold our head up high and say we pay our own way
#15
but still 42k isnt exactly a poor amount

well put rappy..

.not everyone wants to be on benefits....I find it hard to believe the majority of people on benefits are living a better life than you..when you earn 42 k....

42k ain't that much when you're supporting another adult and a child. I find it hard surviving on a combined income of around 55k and it's just the two of us.

If you are finding it hard living on 55k for 2 you must be living way beyond your means.
#22
Agreed with op. Im fourtunate enough to have a job that pays well so not doing too bad, but for people on minimum wage - they might aswell go on benefits (works out financially better)

Please do not get me wrong! I am not complaining about the money I earn...I am greatful i am able to work and I have good health.
Just seams to me at the moment, the harder you work, the more you get screwed.

my point exactly..if you find it hard on 55k....how do people on benefits manage ..cos trust me..even 2 people with a child arent getting 55k a year....

But it's all bills bills bills for us.

We need a car to get to work, I work shifts so no public transport. Paying off student loans, all the usual electric and gas. Live in an area which seems to be getting affluent, all the shops are expensive, getting to a tesco or whatever means a car journey.
Can't sell flat due neg equity.
Sometimes it feels impossible, and I know a lot earn a lot less but it's unfair to say we're living beyond our means.
#28
there are ppl in the world much worse off than raptor is also.........lets not forget that.

Yeah - you're right. That is life and part of it is having to have a moan and vent about the rubbish bits. Everyone's got something that gets them down but also if you look closely enough there's lots of things to be thankful about.

#35
How can you struggle on 55k a year with 2 people?? It would be so easy! Just cut down on stuff that you dont really need

i dont know your circumstances-but i do know i worked as a single parent 4 kids no maintenance-20000 and a mortgage-and i managed well. My partner when i met him worked long and hard and i didnt want him to kill himself like that o he retrained and works less for more. Try to figure how you can make it better?
