Hey all, we were lookin in toys r us today for some baby stuf, when I finally saw what all the hype was about. I fell in love with the eee pc right away, and while very impractical to use as an everyday laptop machine, its great for trips, films, and occasional quick web browsing when you just dont wanna turn on the pc lol!!

Small keyboard is a bit hard to get used to, but im ok with it now lol. had to go for the xp version tho because my wife will be using it alot and she likes windows!!

Anyhoo, just a quickie to say i love the computer, and recommend buying it!!

I hadn't realised the windows version was so expensive, the Linux version is around £220.

At this price the next model up the 901 is worth considering as it's only £15-20 more and gives you double the battery life and bluetooth.

yer I diddnt wanna go too mad, the linux version is the same price, but you get a 20gb hard disk instead of 12.

I was gonna go for the slightly bigger 904 version, same price, much bigger hdd, but I think it defeats the object cos its a bit bigger than the rest.

As said, take it back and pay 20 more for a 901, got a 901 myself

battery lifes more than double.

Eg, watched 1.5hrs of video, used 30% battery life, = 5hrs of video playback.

yep 20 pounds more!

was only going by what you said, "its great for trips, films"

the same reason i have mine, can watch 2 full films on a 4hr flight and still have life left.

You paid too much as the 900 could be bought for under £250 for over a month now :).

The Linux version is £220. The cheapest I've seen the windows version is £250-260 though.

Avoid the 16GB 900 at all costs!

The 4GB SSD was removed leaving only the 16GB SSD (found in the 20GB Linux 900, similar to the 8GB SSD in the XP 900). They are slow.. far slower than the (now) removed 4GB SSD which makes for a very poor experience (check eeeuser.com).
